Aren't junk stores wonderful places to haunt? When I Let's take a minute to talk about
gave my daughter her first Tea Party I lucked in to one having a
sale & got 13 prom/bridesmaids dresses for $20.00! What a buy!
While haunting junk stores things to look for: hats, junk jewelry,
gloves, high heels, purses, real tea cups, napkins, tablecloths, bits
of lace, toys, bears, angels, dolls, anything you think you might can
use as a decoration. Maybe you can even find a feather boa! You
can get by with one, to use as a prop when taking pics.
what to choose for the tablecloth & napkins.
There are many pretty paper(& plastic) tablecloths, as well as
paper napkins you can buy, but no matter how pretty they maybe,
they simply do not have the classy appearance of cloth. If you do
not have them available, there are options, a pretty twin size sheet
will cost about $3-4.00 at a mart store, you would pay at least that
for paper or plastic. And you can always reuse the sheets. Napkins,
well of course I have an idea for those, too. Cut matching fabric
into squares(pinking shears are best for this, if you have them)
and use rubber stamps to apply a design, if you want like. Now
the BIG question, will you fold them or use napkin rings? If you
opt to fold them, you will need to starch & iron them(YUCK!)
They simply will NOT look right if you don't! Sorry but that
is the truth. But some of the folds are very beautiful & worth
the effort. There are books available for this. There may even
be some in the back of your cook book. For a girl's Tea Party I
opt for napkin rings, you can use some of the necklaces & bracelets
for napkin rings. Lay napkin flat & grab in center, wind jewelry
around napkin & poof it! Really, they look great. Try it.
