I was there in the room
I watched her take her first breath
This golden child felt my touch
as she lay on her mother's breast
They named her Jade
And such a joy this child was to me
I held her tight, kissed her goodnight
Knew this love was meant to be
Her Mom brings her to visit
and when I open the door
her eyes light up like stars
as she runs across the floor
She gives me a hug and then
a great big slobbery kiss
This Angel of mine with big sparkling eyes
Brings to my life such bliss
I call her on the phone
She laughs in her baby way
and tells me in baby language
what she is doing that day
When we are done and I'm ready to hang up
I realize what children are for
Because when I say "Nana loves you"
She says "Nana I love you more"
