Baby Sugar Sweet
History

Baby Sugar Sweet started life as Baby Moondancer. I've actually had this one for a long time, years before I knew I could find ponies on the web. I already had Baby Moondancer, but this one was going to be sent to a second hand shop by someone I knew and I ended up rescuing her. She had no tail and most of her mane had been shorn off raggedly by her former owner, so I tidied her up the best I could and let her stay with my other ponies. She spent most of the time hiding, and when I started thinking about making customs I knew she should be my first.

I thought Baby Candy Cane ponies would be cute and wanted to make the whole collection. Since I had poor Baby Moondancer, the Candy Cane unicorn was the obvious place to start, thus Baby Sugar Sweet.

Process

before her rebirthShe was my first "real" custom, and I'm rather proud of her. All the techniques I used with her are recorded on my customs page, so I won't repeat them. The donor body was flawless, so I didn't have to try to clean her up any more. I bought the hair in ringlets like that, then I dyed some aqua (it turned out rather blue) and left some white. Then I just coiled the natural ringlets around each other to get the striped effect. I copied her symbol from her mother but made it smaller, more baby-like. And she turned out beautifully!

Story

Sugar Sweet was frantic. She had brought her baby to her first circus carnival, and now Baby Sugar Sweet had gotten lost.  "Oh, she has to be here somewhere!" she moaned. Nervously, she wandered around asking all her friends. Magic Hat was putting on a magic show, but Baby Sugar Sweet wasn't there. Mirror Mirror was lost in the mirror maze, so she was no help. Applejack and Slugger were too busy with the apple basket ball toss to notice the missing baby. Even Melody, the MC at the big top hadn't seen her. Just then Munchy, who had been watching the cotton candy machine shouted out. Sugar Sweet hurried over and there, right inside the big tub of cotton candy goo, was Baby Sugar Sweet. "Oh, what a mess!" cried Sugar Sweet. But her baby just laughed and wiggled her ears. All the gooey mess was cleaned up and suddenly an extra big stick of cotton candy appeared for each pony. Now everyone could share a sweet treat!
