Contests
Who's That Pony?
When: Sunday, 11:00am-7:00pm

What: A MLP identification contest

Bring: A good memory

Test your knowledge of Ponies by identifying them without their symbols! I have digitally removed the symbols of a number of ponies and they will be displayed for all to see on the walls of the Meet hall. Fill out your entry form and identify each pony by name. One point is given for correctly listing what set the pony is from, and one awarded for the right name. Whoever has the most points at the end wins the prize!

- There are 50 ponies to identify.

- I blurred more then necessary in some cases, so no hints there either.

Scoring:

1pt - correctly naming a pony. (Spelling mistakes are okay within reason.)

1pt - correctly identifying what set it came from. (If there is more then one of the set, identify which one. TAF set 2, Newborn Twin set 1, ect.)

1/2pt - correctly naming a twin pair. (Ie. Sniffles & Snookums, Doodles & Noodles.) (You only get this 1/2 point if you cannot name which twin it is. Naming the wrong twin scores no points. For example, let's say the twin is Rattles. Answering Rattles scores 1pt, answering Rattles & Tattles scores 1/2pt, answering Tattles scores 0pt.)

NPM Customs Contest
When: Sunday, 1:00pm-6:45pm

What: The usual custom pony competition

Bring: A custom MLP

Theme: Celebration!

We have plenty to celebrate this year with the official return and anniversary of MLP. This year is officially My Little Pony's Year of Celebration, but that's a pretty broad subject! Think about how the new generation of ponies each fall under this theme while you create your custom. What does Celebration mean to you?

Rules:

- This must be the first time your custom is entered in any contest.

- The custom must have been designed and made by you.

- The custom must be completely original. (No babies of Hasbro ponies, male versions, ect.)

- The custom must be MLP related. (No custom Care Bears, Transformers, ect.)

- Each person may have one entry. Sets (Mother / Daughter, Twins, ect.) are allowed, but are considered as one.

- The custom may be from any generation of MLP.

Judging:

Everyone at the Meet is allowed to participate in judging the contest, even those who bring in an entry. This will be done by filling in a form rating each entry in several categories and dropping it in a ballot box. There will also be space provided for comments. In the event of a tie, the Lovers of Ponyholics will be asked to chose a winner.

Categories:

- Originality (how cool is the idea, how original, ect.)

- Technical Skill (how well was paint applied, how about threading, dying, ect.)

- Overall Appearance (how does it look, ect.)

There will be winners announced for the highest points in each category and there will be a prize for each.

NPM Mascot Pagent
When: Sunday, 1:00pm-7:00pm

What: A competition to determine next year's mascot

Bring: A MLP design.

This special pageant will be used by the members of the Northern Pony Meet to vote for the next official Northern Pony Meet mascot! Baby Ice Crystal is proud to have presented the Meet for it's first two years, and Mistral gracefully took his place this year. The new mascot will represent the NPM next year!

Rules:

- Ponys who are involved in the custom contest may be entered in this contest as well.

- You may make a separate "real" custom pony for this contest.

- You may hand draw an entry.

- You may make a sculpture or model.

- You may use a template from the internet and add symbols and colour.

- You may have someone else draw your entry for you.

- The design must have been created by you (even if you didn't draw it).

- The entry must be visually represented at the Meet, no written or oral descriptions allowed.

- You may enter more then once.

- Each pony participant must write out a short speech (anywhere from a full paragraph to a page) explaining why they think they would be the best mascot. Be creative for this, it must be from the point of view of the pony. Think beauty pageant speech here.

Entries:

Contestants in the mascot pageant will be displayed at the meet for everyone to see at their leisure. Just to make it clear, all entries for this contest will consist of two parts:

- A custom or hand drawn art or printout or painting or model (ect.) clearly showing the pony.

- A written or printed speech one paragraph to a page in length.

Judging:

At the beginning of the Meet, everyone will be given a ballot for this contest. There will be a ballot box close to the entries. During the day feel free to examine the entries and read what they have to say. Carefully consider each on it's merits, and ignore the technical skill of the drawing or custom itself. When you are ready, fill out your ballot and drop it in the box. At the end of the Meet the box will be opened and the ballots counted to determine the winner. In the event of a tie, the Lovers of Ponyholics will be asked to choose the winner.

Technical skill does not mater at all for this contest. Stick figure ponys will get just as much consideration as gallery pieces. Next year the winning mascot will be redrawn by me so only the overall design will be considered while voting. This leaves it open for absolutely anyone to enter, not just those who consider themselves artistic!
