Moondust's Office
last updated: May 12 2001

My name is Moondust, and I organize star production here in Starry Up.

Lots of people have questions about Moondreamers, which is understandable considering how few fans know about us and how little there is posted on the internet in general. Most people I've met are relatively new to collecting and don't remember much (if anything!) from when they were younger. So I thought I would answer a few of the more common queries on this Frequently Asked Questions page.

If you have a new question, please don't hesitate to ask me. I'll get back to you as soon as I can and possibly post the answer here for others to see too.

Is it supposed to be "Moon Dreamers" or "Moondreamers"?
This is an interesting question. For the first year my site was open I always referred to the series as "Moondreamers". This is because on all the packaging and books that's how it was spelt. Now it turns out the original copyright on the series was for "Moon Dreamers", and besides that, the logo shows the name split to two lines. So it would seem that even Hasbro was a bit confused as to what to call the series. Of course this leads to some confusion in the fans, but for now assume both are correct.
So just what is Moondreamers about anyway? All I remember is that they glowed.
Moondreamers is a cutsy series basically about the ones who give kids good dreams every night (Moondreamers aren't pixies or elves despite the fact that they are only knee-high to a kid, they're just Moondreamers). They live in a place called Starry Up. For fun they do things like polish stars and race comets and slide on moonbeams and keep strange creatures in a strange zoo.
How much is (insert doll or item here) worth?
There are so few places offering Moondreamers for sale that it's really hard to properly answer this. I don't want to start influencing prices in the Moondreamers market by quoting figures to too many sellers. But having said that, I have put together a relative price guide for estimation purposes only. Visit Ursa's Price Guide.
Where can I find tapes of the Moondreamers TV show?
To find the original videos search auction sites such as eBay or Yahoo, or online video stores like Amazon. Around home try your local video rental places in the children section. (Honest, you'd be surprised by how many stores still stock 80's cartoons.) To get copies of the TV episodes you could ask at the Moondreamers Club or message boards around the internet. I also recommend Toonarific Cartoon Archive. They have every episode, most in great viewing condition but a couple are of poor quality. Please don't email asking if you can buy the videos off of me, I don't own any original videos and all my copies came from Toonarific anyways, so just go straight to the source. You'll get better quality that way!
Where can I find Moondreamers dolls or merchandise?
Have you visited Stumbles Links page yet? Around home try second-hand stores that carry toys, garage sales, and flea markets. Check back often because these places tend to rotate their stock frequently and you never know what might turn up.
I think I remember a bad Moondreamer with red hair, but I can't find anything about her, who is she?
You are probably thinking of Scowlette. She may look like a Moondreamer but she's not, really she's Scowlene's daughter. There is no hint of her in the toy line or other merchandise, and she only shows up in a couple of the books. She does make frequent appearances in the TV series though, and you can find her around my site too.
I found an (insert interesting bit of merchandise or accessory here) which I think is a Moondreamers item, but I can't find anything about it on your site, does it belong with Moondreamers?
Chances are yes it does. This site is pieced together primarily from things I have run across myself, so it's far from being a complete guide. Please write me and describe what you've got, I would love to hear about it, and I will share your discovery with the Moondreamers community.
Can you draw (insert character here) for me? Pleeeease!
I would love to have the time to do a custom graphic for everyone who likes my art style. Unfortunately, I don't. Really, I'm sorry, but I have a lot of other things to do right now. However, I have been drawing at least one pose of every Moondreamer, so eventually your favourite will show up somewhere on this site. Please be patient.
When are you going to update your site / Why won't you answer my e-mail?
I am making every effort to stay on top of that now that I have regained net access, but it's sometimes awhile before I get the chance to update, and I may be gone for weeks at a time. During my last absence I received a huge amount of mail which I am still in the process of sorting through. Please be patient with me during my technical difficulties. I do answer all e-mail and I really love hearing from Moondreamers fans, it just may take me awhile.
Where did you get the songs and video clips? Can I use them too?
I made all the songs, character quotes and video clips myself, as well as most of the artwork on my site. It's been quite a massive undertaking to video capture and MP3 and convert files and all that. My friend Mark has been very helpful to this process, he's pretty knowledgeable about computer audio/video. (You can see his pet project at the Original Sailor Moon Fandub home page). And I did make them to be used. There is so little Moondreamers stuff to be found on the web right now and I wanted to contribute more, so yes, take what you need. (Unless of course I've made a note not to.) Having said that, pleeease don't claim credit for anything. You don't need to give me credit for any audio/video stuff, but credit for artwork would be nice. If you do use something, please provide a link to this site so others can learn too!
