Yes, it is one of those more serious animes that require an intelligence level to completely understand. A Wind Named Amnesia is an in-depth look into the human will power, human spirit, and, well, humanity in definition. It takes place in a dismal "future" (taking place in the year 199X) which has humans acting like barbarians trying to survive as if they were primal. 2 years ago, an amnesia wind blew and erased all memories from humans. Only Wataru is left, though he soon meets some that still yield the ability to talk. He meets Sophie, who seems to be at a higher level of intelligence than himself, which is a rarity. Wataru's journey takes him to many places (in America) as he learns about humanity, and tries to solve who is behind the Amnesia Wind. As the movie ends, it doesn't end the way you expect it to, but I won't ruin it for you. And to you hentai otakus, the rating 8 comes from some nudity, enough to be R rated, but no, not enought for the H-rating, so there.
I loved this movie, and I would be proud to have it in my collection. In fact, I believe this movie is better than 97% of all american movies. Yes, that does include Titanic, since it absolutely sucked in my own opinion as well as several other otakus I know, as well as some non-otakus, Star Wars fans, girls, and perverts. The previous list could go on some more, but I can't think anymore... As I said, the only problem is that it contains the one unnecessary scene stated above for H-otaku, thus limiting who can watch it, but if anyting, that's a plus.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
