Tekken: The Motion Picture
Episodes Reviewed: N/A, dubbed
Overall Grade:D
As always, this anime deserves it. There is very little story, and much coughing up of blood. We don't really learn much about the characters and everything seems rushed. Listen up: an extra 30 minutes can go a long way.
Storyline: 3
One man takes revenge upon his own father because he threw him off a mountain as a form of training. Girl tries to prevent boy from killing father, stuff happens, mini-plots stuck in there, all in one hour. 30 minutes goes a long way.
Type: Action
IT'S BASED ON A FIGHTING GAME
Ch. Development: 2
Only an hour long; story starts and ends in a single hour. Believe me, you'll learn more about these characters by playing the game!
Sexuality: 2
Mature themes, and I'm told there was a detailed shower scene. I didn't see nothin'. I was more into how they could have better used the wasted time in those scenes.
Romance: 3
Laughable. Why do people think that love could possibly bloom, and into a marriage, from a girl's crush on a boy who fell off a cliff? Dumbass writers....
Drama: 4
The 4 was just a guess. I was bored for much of the movie.
Action: 9
Look at "genre". There are gallons.
Comedy:0
The work they did on this movie is quite laughable.
Dub
Dub Voices:
Below-average
Dub Music:
???
Dub Lines:
Passable, I guess
Censorship:
Since it's not on TV, there isn't any unless you get the cut version.
Tekken: The Motion Picture wasn't the anime I thought it would be. I expected a nice plot that would inform me on the story behind the Tekken series, and maybe get me to appreciate it. Now I know that almost no anime based on a fighting game have a thick plot. Instead, they are all somewhat based on the game, with a little plot, but the only other similarity is that there are characters from the game, some of them just thrown in so some players of the game would say "oh, cool, it's my favorite character!", but it's all in vain. Tekken is filled with blood, the previews from the VHS version has blood, and you can't go through five minutes without someone coughing out a pint of blood.
I forgot 99% of the names. Wait... make that 100% of the names. I assume this is based on Tekken 1. I'll use descriptunes for the characters. So.. the main plot revolves around this guy who has a long scar across his chest, trying to take revenge on his father, who threw him off a cliff while he was a kid. This one girl, who grew up to become a detective, saw this and remembers this. He finds the boy she saw many years ago, and tries to persuade him to not kill his father. At the same time, the girl's partner continues on to accomplish his mission to check out something going on at the island all the Tekken fighters were invited to. He is joined by this android, who is apperently named Jack. He carries around this wierd-looking girl. Oh well, that's not important. There are several other sub-plots involving about four other characters. See how crazy this is? And it's all stuffed into a 60-minute "movie".
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
