D50's Top Five Lists
D50's Top Five Lists has, well, Top Five lists!  From most loved anime, to most hated rocks, that kind of stuff! The Views of D50 may not match the views of yourself, so don't send any annoying e-mails, if you actually have nothing better to do.  Thank you.  Please note that characters and series and movies are limited by the anime I myself have watched, so if you think there's an anime or a charcter that deserves to be in here, chances are I haven't watched that anime.

D50's Top Five Anime Series (Short series)

5.     Sakura Taisen- So far the best anime based on a video game I have ever seen.  Well, in the SS category that is.
4.     Mobile Suit Gundam 08th MS Team- Another fun anime with action.  You just can't put down the fact that it's a great war story that gives a good message if you actually pay attention to those messages.  However, it gets knocked to "4" for being overly corny.
3.     Dirty Pair Flash- It is really fun and really draws you in.  All the fun action and comedy won't stop, and it's the best out of the three missions.
2.     Serial Experiments Lain- I do enjoy it, and it is interesting.  It's a thinking anime, and a formidable challenge for my brain.
1.     Please Save my Earth - It was my first true anime experience, and for that, I must give it the respect it deserves.

D50's Top Five Anime Series (26-episode)

5.     Outlaw Star- Great story, interesting.  Magic and space drama action, along with comedic elements and light-heartedness.
4.     Cowboy Bebop- Believe it or not, episodic style actually works in this case, making it highly appealing to almost all types.
3.     Neon Genesis Evangelion- Always Interesting, always makes you want more.
2.     Excel Saga- Something topped NGE?  Well, never underestimate something that relieves stress.  Of course, it may weaken you mentally, but you'll be too out of it to notice.
1.     Love Hina- Whoa, talk about unexpected!  Best damn romance-comedy ever!  So far... (24-episode)

D50's Top Five Anime Series (Longer)

5.     Voltron - What is it about the classics that makes you feel good... is all nostalgia necessarily good?  ...  ...  FORM BLAZING SWORD!!
4.    Gundam Wing- Great action and drama, and some of the greatest mechs I've ever seen.   Plus the Two-Mix music kicks ass.
3.     Sailor Moon S- My favorite out of the serieses, and the one with the most drama and kickassedness.
2.     Yoroiden Samurai Troopers- A great series to watch when I was a kid, and more appreciated after watching it again.  Kickass powers, and the first (but not last) to feature glowing kanji on foreheads.
1.     Fushigi Yugi- Insanely funny and great series.  It's addictive on some level, and I could never get enough.  I welcome the possibility of showing it on Toonami.  Also features glowing kanji on foreheads.  Well, two foreheads.  Nice balance of humor and seriousness.

D50's Top Five Anime Series (Long-Running)

5.     Dragon Ball Z - Intense action, drama, comedy, rolled into one, and taken slowly, slowly, slowly.
4.      Pokemon- Always fun and some of the best voice acting I've ever heard.  Also one of the best video-game based anime ever.  Perhaps also the most talked about and the longest.  Why do people say it sucks?  It doesn't suck... in fact the characters are highly likable and have quirky personalities (bias number 2)
3.      Ruroni Kenshin- Another great series that knows how to balance seriousness and comedy, and has a massive supply of martial arts styles and strange situations that are highly unlikely.  And a gatling gun in Meiji-era Japan?
2.     Dragon Ball- Fun martial arts mayhem and funny situations.  The manga is about as funny as Fushigi Yugi.
1.      Ranma 1/2 - Really insane story (in a good way), tons of fun, lovable/memorable characters.

D50's Top Five Video Games

5.    Kingdom Hearts- Although the Disney thing is lame, it's all Squaresoft, and they even found ways to make some of these characters cool, like the Beast.
4.    Final Fantasy VII- One of the best RPGs ever created, and a revolutionary one that introduced new possibilites...
3.    Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete - Like Chrono Trigger, you can see enemies before battles.  OH, and voice acting and anime cutscenes and the fact that it comes with plenty of goodies helps too.  If only I played the original...
2.    Metal Gear Solid - I can't believe this escaped my list before!  Sneaking around and killing never got this good.
1.     Chrono Trigger - A great RPG with the greatest feature of all time, the NewGame +.  Oh, and 13 different endings.

D50's Top Five Anime Movies

5.     Ninja Scroll - Ninjas, but no scroll.  Where are you, scroll?  Now, Ninja Cadets, that had a huge room full of scrolls.
4.     Tenchi the Movie - Imagine Tenchi Muyo (Universe) mixed with Back to the Future, but with more Washu influence.
3.     Perfect Blue- Perfect movie, and no, I don't think that Walt Disney would have made a flick like this... dumbass critic.
2.     A Wind Named Amnesia - A thinking movie it may be, but still the most original film, anime or liveaction, I ever saw... up at that point.
1.     Princess Mononoke - The most entertaining movie of all time.  Possible exception: Star Wars.

D50's Top Five Most Hated Anime

5.     Armitage Dual Matrix - Stupid title aside, the horrible-quality animation, out-of-place CG, and multiple meaningless events make it too painful to watch.
4.     Iczer-One - Strange, violent, and nonsensical.  Sad and full of drama.  Makes no sense, and hard to enjoy with another.
3.     Raven Tengu Kabuto - Like Ninja Scroll, but much shorter, with no plot, and, annoyingly enough, a perfect hero.  Yeech!
2.     Fist of the North Star - Short, dumb, and filled to the brim with explosions... of heads.
1.     Kimera - The worst anime of all time.  Bad animation quality, insane plot (and not in a good way), and, the worst characters in history.

D50's Top Five Most Hated Video Games
(Well, not really hated, just least liked)

5.     Ninja Gaiden - Insanely high respawn rate, cheap enemy placement, deadly birds... and far, far too hard.
4.     Ranma 1/2 RPG - I now realize the folly of mixing franchise with popular genre to make a wannabe game.  Sucks ass.
3.     Sailor Moon S Fighter - Poorly done Sailor Moon fighter, but better because of the great selection of fighters.
2.     Sailor Moon R Fighter - Poorly done Sailor Moon fighter.  Sailor Moon games should be RPGs or Adventure games.
1.     Super Mario Brothers USA - Not True Mario Bros. style, nobody to save, and a very different world.  No warps either.

D50's Top Five Anime Characters (Male)

5.     Ryoga Hibiki (Ranma 1/2) - Everyone has their favorite characters, and Ryoga is his name... from Ranma 1/2.
4.     Duo Maxwell (GundamW) - His cocky attitude and fact that he's "normal," well, he stands out better than the others.
3.     Toma (YST) - Believe me, he's the best.  It's just that the focus is always on Ryo.  Think about it; it takes three episodes to find and save this guy when it took only one episode for the rest, and in the end he awoke and saved Ryo.  Also, only he and Ryo make it to the netherrealm near the end of the series.
2.     Sakuya Kira (Angel Sanctuary)- I say, every anime needs a cool-looking, sword-wielding guy like Kira.
1.     Shinji Ikari (NGE) - Finally an anime character I can relate to!  One even more downcast than I.  I feel glad for him at the end... of the TV series.

D50's Top Five Anime Characters (Female)

5.     Rei Ayanami (NGE) -I always have a bias toward any character that reminds me of myself.  Of course, her attitude changes swiftly just when you think she's changed... mysterious, no?
4.     Mutsumi Otohime (Love Hina) - Why?  I dunno... there's just something about her that really appeals to me.
3.     Excel (Excel Saga) - Always ultra-energetic, and occasionally clueless, but I like her perseverance, esp. when she dies.
2.     Ukyo Kuonji(Ranma 1/2) - Everyone has their favorite charcters, and Ukyo is her name... from Ranma 1/2.  Gotta love them spatulas.
1.     Asuka Langley Soryu (NGE) - I always have to like them characters that have hatable qualities... but that's just me.

D50's Top Five Video Game Characters (Male)

5.     Riku (Kingdom Hearts) - "Offer your heart to the darkness.  Become Darkness itself!"  Not just that, but he's the original Keyblade master.
4.     Magus (Chrono Trigger) - One of the greatest vilains of all time, and powerful to boot.
3.     Auron (Final Fantasy X) - This kick-ass character wins the award of only cool guy in FFX, and doing a class-A job of hiding the fact that he's dead.
2.     Zero (MegaMan X series) - Zero is perhaps the most powerful yet most complex character of the X Universe.

Tie:
1.     Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII) - FFX's Seymour wanted the power to destroy the world.  Sephiroth wanted to destroy the world to gain the power.  See the difference?
1.     Ghaleon (Lunar 1 and 2) - Not one of the greatest villains of all time... THE greatest villain of all time.  The ability to trick a dark god and control a goddess... does it get any better than that?  Well, he died and came back solely for the purpose of betraying the one that brought him back.

D50's Top Five Video Game Characters (Female)

5.     Lemina (Lunar 2) - Surprised?  Sure, she's thrifty and always out for a scheme to make money, and sure, she wouldn't mind exchanging her best friends for 15 million Silver, but I certainly don't mind.  But that's just me.
4.     Roll (MegaMan) - Too cute!  Er.. and she also helps out by making new equipment for Mega Man.  Though, he isn't exactly a man in any sense.
3.     Mizuki (Tenchi Muyo! RPG) - A great villain, a great ally, and the greatest powers in the game.  Did I mention that she can totally kick Ryoko's ass?  She was created purely as a rival to Ryoko by her creator Kasumi, who totally hates Washu (Don't they all?).
2.     Yuffie (FFVII) - Since all the characters are pretty much the same battle-wise, it's her personality I like best.  And her purpose for joining Cloud's team. The classic ninja-type.
1.     Jean (Lunar2) - The best female character in the game, the best-looking, and the best speed, third-highest attack, and most amount of attacks per turn.

D50's Hall of Anime Cool Character Types (In Anime Alphabetical Order)
The definition of a cool character is a character that has awesome powers or abilites that usually rivals the main character.  This does not necessarily bar main characters from this prestigious title, but it certainly seems less likely.  Cool characters often have a personality that contradicts or seems calmer and less annoying than that of the main character.  They will often hide a secret.  Sometimes, it can take merely a good wardrobe, some neat moves, and near-indestructability to label someone as cool.  Nearly half the time, the characters will at some point be a villain.  The "old master" stereotype is barred from this title; they're always cool.  You will very rarely find these types outside of martial arts anime or mech anime.

(Angel Sanctuary)  Sakuya Kira - The only katana-weilding character in the series.
(Armitage III) Naomi Armitage - She's got the moves, the looks, the angel mode...
(Dragon Ball Z)  Mirai ("Future") Trunks - Maybe it's the hair.
(Dragon Ball Z)  Vegeta - Maybe it's the uninhibited violence.
(Excel Saga) Ropponmatsu - She's ultra powerful, weilds a giant shuriken, and will often be destroyed when she cuts the wrong wire in a bomb.
(Fushigi Yugi) Chichiri - No one beats the monk with the cheery mask, ya know!
(Fushigi Yugi) Tasuki - Two words: Rekka Shin'nen!
(G Gundam) "Schwartz Bruder" - Forged from the same mold as Racer X... and he's a German ninja!  A German ninja!
(Gundam Wing) Zechs Marquise - Pilot of the Epyon, which uses the universe's largest beam saber and a whip as its main weapons.  Let's not forget the hair, the bloodline, and his uncanny resemblance to Char when masked.
(Inu-Yasha) Sesshomaru - Lesse... he controls the Tetsusaiga with little effort, can use poison attacks, uses an energy whip, and has a sword that can bring him back to life if he should ever be defeated.
(Love Hina) Noriyasu Seta - The action hero-type archaelogist was toned down big-time in the anime, so read the manga!
(Neon Genesis Evangelion) Ryoji Kaji - In search for the truth, he risked his life, and never even bothered to shave.
(Princess Mononoke) Ashitaka - He uses a sword that doesn't actually have a blade or a pointed edge, he has a cursed arm that can decapitate soldiers with arrows, and yet he wants nothing but peace.
(Ranma 1/2) Ryoga Hibiki - The only fighter to consistently give Ranma a run for his money, he's master of self-depression, construction techniques, uses a heavy umbrella, and has an unlimited number of bandanas that are used like boomerang projectiles.
(Ronin Warriors) "Anubis" - Despite wearing the sign of loyalty, he betrayed his evil master and immediately died... then came back in style as a monk!  And you know how awesome those monks are...
(Ronin Warriors) Toma - Toma of the Heavens, or Rowen of the Strata, whichever one you prefer, would be the strongest of the five troopers, except Ryo has the Inferno Armor... cheap bastard.
(Trigun)  Nicholas D. Wolfwood - This man has his cross to bear... but his cross happens to be his mightiest weapon... and you can bet it ain't to convert heathens... it's to provide him with multiple handguns, a machine gun, and a rocket launcher.
(Yu Yu Hakusho) Hieh - His awesome speed and darkness attacks are too cool for a good guy to have.. and yet there he is.
(Yu Yu Hakusho) Kurama - The fox demon that has a pure evil version of himself sealed within him... well, what's not to like about that?
