Well, Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals was wierd.  It was wierd.  There were featherless chocobos, strange characters, medieval action, butt-lasers, all very wierd and not too Final Fantasy-y.  There are some gallons of blood, but not all spent on one scene, thank you.
Some of you may remember some of the voices.  Pretz is done by Matt K. Miller, the voice of Tenchi from Tenchi Muyo!, Linaly and that Pirate-lady are done by Kate T. Vogt, the voice of Washu and Sasami, and Mid is done by whoever does the voice of "Cody" from Digimon 02.

Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals made no sense to me, since I had seen only the 2nd half... VHS style.  On the VHS version, the audio was SO very AWFUL.  It eventually got better, but I just couldn't make sense out of some stuff.  All I know is that Pretz and Linaly are on a quest to protect the Four Crystals of the Elements: Fire, Ice/Water, Wind, and I think Earth.  All you need now is a little Heart, and.. hey, where did Captain Planet come from?  Linaly has the ability to summon... Chocobos, and Pretz is your average, 3-foot-long sword-carrying boy.  They join up with this guy... which I call rusty, since that's what I heard most of the time instead of his real name, which I haven't heard of that much.  They go through various quests to protect the Crystals from a power that reveals that he is Deathgyunos.  Yeah..
This was still pretty strange, though the story was easy to pick up and it has plenty of good family fun and humor and not too much violence.  In fact, the only thing I find wrong is that the VHS version has previews for anime that shows some Incredibly Violent Scenes And Scenes Of Nudity So There.  Makes no sense to me.  Now scroll down a little so you can see my motto.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
