Grave of the Fireflies
"Why do fireflies die so quickly?"
Episodes Reviewed: N/A, subbed
Overall Grade: A+
So very deserving. Just trust me for once.
Storyline: 10
Truly wonderful war epic. No, it's not like you think. It's more like life during war. It chronicles the people at home, not the people at war. I was not sure I would like it when I heard of it on the 'net, but now I totally understand what those guys were talking about. Hey, I just learned something. Doesn't this look like a screen from Pong? ' I .,

Oh... my... Gawd. Heh. I remember swearing a long time ago that I would never cry at a movie ever, no matter how sad it was meant to be. In fact, it turned out easier than I thought; I totally cracked up when I watched Titanic. But this movie... damn, it went the farthest any movie ever did. Three tears. That is really saying something.
Action: 5
We see the bombing of cities. And, uh, we see some very disturbing scenes. That really got me sad. The even sadder part was that I was getting angry at the people bombing these cities, but those people were the Americans, since, you should know, Japan and America were enemies during World War II.
Comedy: 2
There were some funny moments. It's kinda odd how these kids managed to have fun during wartime, and what they had to deal with was so horrible, I wouldn't even wish it unless it was against my worst enemy. Yeah, that's no typo.
Dub not seen
What a sad, sad story. Huh? Oh, sorry, I was just watching VH1. Um... lessee... where are my notes. Oh, that's right, I never made notes. I guess that's why I always forget these names. I hope I can remember... Nope. Shame, too. This was truly a masterpiece. One of the greatest animation movies ever. Hell, one of the greatest movies ever.
So, our main man this time is a boy named (insert boy's name here). He and her sister live in Japan. During World War II. Luckily, we don't see the atomic bombing. Y'see, right near the beginning, this boy has to leave his home and reach a bombing shelter because they are being bombed. The way I see it, such a thing shouldn't happen, but that's war, and war is senseless. As if killing civilians is gonna win a war! Anyway, the boy later learns that his mother was so seriously injured that she is completely bandaged head to toe. His father is a high-ranking officer on the Japanese fleet. If you know your history, you now already know what happened to the father. For the time being, the boy and his sister have to live with their aunt. At first, their aunt is nice, but later, she starts being fair and complains about how the boy doesn't help work. Considering what the children are going through, she seems like a total bitch! After all, the kids' mother is actually... um.... I can't say. But she should treat them better with more consideration for the fact that at the time they essentially have no parents. Well, the aunt is so much of a bitch that they decide to leave and live on their own. This means that they have to live on their limited rations and clothing. Not only that, but these kids aren't exactly doctors. Watch this movie and go through the same emotions I did. This really gets to ya. Nothing I can say can really prepare you for what you're gonna see, but if you cry, remember that I told you so.
That's my Story and I'm Sticking to it!
