What do you expect? Really cool, okay.
Storyline: 10
Nothing out there like it. Well, maybe, but nothing I know of. Now, I have to see if I can remember... is his name Ashitaka? Sounds right... Now, that girl... her name is...um... it's one syllable...sha, she, san, so... I know it starts with an s... damn. Wait, is it San? Yep, now more on this down below.

I have to save the last four for the more violent stuff.

But who knows, maybe it will air someplace sometime.
Definitely the best I ran across in a long time. The best anime movie I have ever watched. The DVD is bilingual, so you don't have to hear the dub voices, but they dub voices are surprisingly good! Yes, they're done by famous American actors, but they fit very well.
This is the story of Ashitaka (I hope I got that right). He is a strong warrior, but his hand is cursed while killing a demon pig. He sets off on a quest to heal his curse. The curse is that that hand is much stronger, but oft out of control. The hand will kill even if he doesn't want it to. It gets to be a little ridiculous; how can an arrow cleanly chop off a head? Er.. Ashitaka must travel to find a god of life and death and ask for it to rid his curse. During his quest, he learns of a girl living with wolves. Her name is San, and she is known as Princess Mononoke for reasons not said. Ashitaka also rescues two soldiers and brings them to their home, where Ashitaka is hailed as a hero, but he soon finds out what the city has to do with his curse and the recent trend of demon-possessed pigs.
This is a must-watch. Do not deny your craving for a superb story and hi-quality animation. Watch it now, and ignore whatever is on the cover of the DVD. Just because it's the only animation movie from Japan dubbed with voices from known american actors and exposed to more people than other anime doesn't mean it should be give a special treatment. Hmmph! Er... scroll down for the motto.
That's my Story and I'm Sticking to it!
