Perfect Blue
"She made me what I am today... I'm real."
Episodes Reviewed: Movie
Overall Grade: A+
The one thing that prevented it from getting the fabled PTS grade was the lack of kickassedness.
Storyline: 10
Damn it was good. Something original for a change!
Okay, this is the story of a pop idol-turned rookie actor named Mamarin Kirigoe. After she leaves her group, CHAM, she acts for a soap opera called Double Bind. While this happens, she learns of a website called Mami's Room, which has every detail of her life chronicled in it. Then later it starts to tell lies, saying that Mamarin the actor is an imposter. Meanwhile, Mamarin becomes paranoid taht someone is spying on her and starts to hallucinate, while murder attempts occur around people that had something to do with Mamarin's career. While this anime is confusing, it all falls into place and makes perfect sense when you get to the end. Finally, we realize that she's not crazy, and we are relieved. Also, you may be wondering what the story is with the fugly obsessive stalker guy that we see throughout the movie. All you have to know is that he's super ugly and that he gets what's coming to him.
Type: Suspense Drama/Mystery
Wow, this is a first.
Ch. Development: N/A
*Yawn* it's a movie.
Sexuality: 8
Detailed nudity scenes, semi-rape scenes, and VERY suggestive themes.
Romance: 0
None whatsoever.
Drama: 10
So much it'll keep you at the edge of your seat... or closer to the edge compared to other movies.
Action: 8
So much blood, but gladly no brains. This gets an 8 for gallons of blood, violence that its way realistic, rape scene 2, and other things I can't think of.
Comedy: 2
Nothing really funny, but we start the movie off with a parody of the Power Rangers.
Dub not seen
Definitely the best damn movie I've watched so far. Watch it now!
If you're into this genre, or you want to see something different, or if you like and respect anime and want to respect it some more, please watch this movie... it won't be a waste of money if you buy it either, but just remember that it is easily an R movie. Also, on the cover of the VHS that I "rented," one critic says that if Alfred Hitchcock and Walt Disney came together to make a movie, they would make this. DAMN WRONG, DUMBASS! For one thing, Alfred Hitchcock might've done something like this, though he wouldn't go as far as this movie did, and Walt Disney?! How does Walt Disney come into mind in this movie?? Does the main character or an entire city burst into song every 14 minutes? Are there at least 3 comedy reliefs? Is this based on a beloved children's tale? No. In fact, the only thing it has to do with Walt Disney is the fact that it's animated, and that is some kind of stereotype or something about anime that MUST be destroyed after being tortured again and again. Well, I said what I said, and now you can end.
That's my Story and I'm Sticking to it!
