Ranma 1/2 the Movie: Big Trouble in Nekonron, China
Episodes Reviewed:N/A
Overall Grade: A+
I am beginning to think that the PTS grade thing is a little lame. So... A+. Not like it deserves a PTS anyway, but WTH (what the hell).
Storyline: 8
So, a mysterious girl named Lychee appears at the Tendo Dojo with a hatred for Happosai (and who doesn't have a hatred for the old lech?) saying that he lied when he said that the scroll would bring her family great happiness in the form of a prince. When she finally throws the old scroll away, the prince just happens to appear, taking the current holder of the scroll... shich happens to not be Lychee, but Akane Tendo!! After getting Ranma out of the way, the prince, Kirin, and his Seven Lucky Gods martial artists leave to Nekonron, China for... the wedding of Akane to Kirin? Well, it's up to Ranma, Ryoga, Soun Tendo, Genma Saotome, Shampoo, Mousse, and Tatewaki Kuno to reach Nekonron to stop the wedding!! Of course, on a tiny rowboat, how long will it take to reach Nekonron from Japan?
Type: Action/Romantic Comedy
Ch. Development: N/A
Sexuality: 3
Just Happi's normal panty raids at the beginning of the feature, followed by a hilarious chase scene involving every single character in the Ranma universe (probably).
Romance: 6
With any other anime, the subtle romance of Ranma and Akane woulda been out in the open by now, but there's no way they'd ruin what they have, right?
Drama: 9
Drama and Kickassedness all the way through.
Drama: Expect to see amazing battles and the key theme of not giving up no matter what. That almost brings a tear to the eye... but not to me.
Kickassedness: Expect to see some great fights and the same martial arts mayhem you may be used to. Ranma's arsenal in this movie include the Makou Tenshin Amaguriken (and revised later), as well as the Hiryu Shoten Ha. I myself would've enjoyed more attacks from Ryoga, but his time'll come in the second movie.
Action:7
Expect to see martial arts mayhem and a few quarts of blood near the end.
Comedy: 10
Sillyness? Yes. Irony? Yes. Wit? What the hell is that? All you really ought to know is that YOU WILL LAUGH. At least once, okay?
Dub
Dub Voices: 10
Wouldn't or couldn't be done better.
Dub Music: N/A
Dub Lines: 10
Very little different from the subtiltled version. Just some word arranging, grunts changed into lines and lines changed into grunts.
Censorship: ???
I dunno. Maybe in the future... though I doubt it.
This movie was really entertaining. If you're not a Ranma fan, then, well, prepare to be one. If you ask me, it doesn't matter when you watch any of it; you will come for more!! If by any chance you haven't seen the movie, you see it in a video rental store, have the money and the membership, rent it. If you don't like it, well, maybe it's just because you prefer different anime like horror or drama. Although I have yet to find someone who doesn't enjoy a good laugh. Of course, the movie isn't that good a source if you wanna just jump into the Ranma scene.
Was it good as a self-standing movie? Well, chances are you'd get confused. At least at the beginning you will. As you start to get into it, you'll pick some stuff up, and hopefully you'll like it. BTW, you may be able to notice the similarities of Ranma and Pokemon.
That's my Story and I'm Sticking to it!
