Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team
Episodes Reviewed: All, Toonami Version
Overall Grade: B
After a long, long, long line of being kind and giving As all over the place, I decided to give this one a B after realizing it was a good anime, but not too good.
Storyline: 9
Hey, it's a nice war epic. Anyway, our main character is Shiro Amada and he is the new captain of the 08th MS team in the Fediration against the rebellious Zion. However, he is also in love with Aina what's-her-last-name, who is a top ranking figure in the Zion forces. What will become of them? I personally hate love stories. Well, I can like them, but the way it was here, I didn't like.
Type: Action/Romance/Drama/Comedy
Right in the correct places. There's more action, then romance, then drama, then comedy.
Ch. Development: 5
Sure we know a lot about the characters, but do they really develop?
Sexuality: 4
I saw a nudity scene in there. Two of them. Of course, there was... uh, that'll come later.
Romance: 8
A lot in there between the couple that was mentioned before. Of course, the plausibility and corniness is a different thing.
Drama: 6
When something is based on war, there has to be a reasonable amount of drama including sacrifice and conflict. Not too much kickassedness for a Gundam series.
Action: 7
I didn't see too much violence, though I did see the killing and acts of terrorism, etc.
Comedy: 4
Just added in there to make it a little more enjoyable.
Dub
Dub Voices: 9
One thing wrong: Shiro sounded a little too corny when it came to his love lines.
Dub Music: I Don't Know
Dub Lines: 8
Like I said, there was just these two dumb lines.
Censorship:
Digital Painting and I think some cuts.
Basically, Toonami knows that gundam will bring in the good bucks they need to survive, so they brought along a short yet enjoyable series for the 5:00 slot. It's a nice story of the 08th team and the characters in that team that have unique situations and stories behind them. I know you just gotta love 'em or at least love one of 'em. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the unique characters are the selling point. Also, the animation looks clean and is pleasing to the eye. Probably a nice DVD.
That's my Story and I'm Sticking to it!
