Sailor Moon R Movie
Episodes Reviewed: N/A Toonami Dubbed, Subtitled
Overall Grade: A+
So far it's the best out of the two Sailor Moon movies I've seen, SMR Movie and SMSuperS Movie. But then again, I saw the subbed R Movie and only seen the dubbed SuperS Movie.
Storyline: 6
Okay, so Mamoru/Darien is visited by an old friend who once visited him a long time ago, and his name is Fiore. Fiore can apparently control flowers/plants, hits Usagi/Serena, and leaves. Soon after that, we learn that an asteriod that is likely of alien origin is heading toward earth. Later, a strange flower-thing appears and sucks life energy from people. After a semi-tough battle, we learn that it's Fiore himself behind things. He kidnaps Mamoru and so the Sailor Soldiers must save him. There's a catch though; Fiore isn't exactly evil, he's just being manipulated by a Kisenian flower, known for their powers like that. And their ambition to destroy planets. BTW, Fiore has an unhealthful fondness of Mamoru. That's all.
Type: Action/Comedy/Romance
Ch. Development: N/A
Though we do delve into the pasts of certain characters. Actually, pretty much all of them.
Sexuality: 3
Not much, really, though Usagi is naked when reverse transforming near the end. Not that anyone ever sees anything.
Romance: 8
Usually, romance is a key point in Sailor Moon. This is no exception.
Drama: 8
Usually, drama is a key point in Sailor Moon. This is no exception.
Action: 6
Usually, action isn't violent and actually proves to be enjoyable in Sailor Moon. This is no exception.
Comedy: 5
Usually, comedy has to be in a 6/10 ratio in Sailor Moon. This is an exception. Much less comedy. Though it can be funny in the beginning.
Dub
Dub Voices: 6
Hey, they don't sound totally wrong.
Dub Music: 4
Dic music really sucks. And it doesn't always sound right for the event it's played on. However, it seems to work about 40% of the time.
Dub Lines: 6
Sounds good, but not professional. Works 60-65% of the time.
Censorship:
Silly at times. They sped up transformations and attacks so we don't take too long a peek at legs. In fact, they do this every time we see legs for an extended amount of time. Also, the scene where Chibiusa/Rini sticks those things up Usagi's nose to get her to wake up was longer, and silent, and therefore funnier.
Okay, chances are you already watched this movie, but if you haven't, I strongly urge you to watch it. And if you have watched it, make sure you watched the subtitled version, as it proves to be more fun, more cute, more dramatic, and less lame. Also less confusing. Not only that, but you actually see/hear the original attacks and might just be able to understand the SM purists more. In case you have no idea what I am saying, I'm gonna have to post up a glossary.
This movie actually lets us take a closer peek into the pasts of the Sailor Soldiers and is entertainingly dramatic. A good watch and probably a good DVD.
That's my Story and I'm Sticking to it!
