Angel Sanctuary

Episodes Reviewed: 1-3

Overall Grade: A+
Hey, despite the odd themes and overall political incorrectness, it's actually a very touching and exciting series that is guaranteed to have you wanting more... unless you hated it.

Storyline: 10
It's the most original and most radical, risky story I've ever heard.  So, Setsuna Mudo, the main character, is in love with his little sister.  I'll give you a few seconds to have that idea settle in your head.  Okay, so strange things start happening to him.  These two creepy characters start following him around calling him an angel.  Odd.  Okay, so, like a normal person, he ignores them and says they're crazy, seeing as how he has different matters he wants to attend to, like seeing if his sister is really his biological sister... which she actually is.  He goes kinda crazy over the conflicting matter of him being in love with his sister, and goes even more insane when gang members that he knows turn into robots and attack him.  Then he sees some sort of angel and realizes that the two characters following him around were serious!  Of course, he's still caught up in himself and stll says that he's not the person they're looking for.  But then, there are still some crazy things going on in his life and to help cope witht hese things, his best friend Sakuya Kira consoles him.  Yeah, Kira is the only thing that can possibly keep him sane in that crazy life he leads.  What with the monsters and him being in love with his sister.

Type: Action/Romance

Ch. Development: 10
There sure is some development, plenty of it.  And considering this all happens in a matter of three episodes, it's a much bigger deal.

Sexuality: 6
It has no awkward fanservice and only has brief nudity, but there are those sexual themes.  Yeah, it seems that sexual themes are just as bad, if not worse than nudity nowadays.

Romance: 10
I'm pretty sure that the whole conflict is started by a romance, the main plot is romance, and the ending is a result of romance.  And, seeing as how the girl is his sister, it's a much bigger deal.

Drama: 10
Words can not possibly describe how dramatic the battles and story are.  Well, okay, they can, but I'm kinda lazy.

Action: 7
The action can get pretty violent, but there aren't too many battles; but it's the quality, not the quantity that counts.

Comedy: 2
Very little comedy, if any.  See? I really am not biased toward comedy and against action.

Dub
Dub Voices: 5
While some of them were pretty cool, and most of them sounded normal, some of them really sucked.

Dub Music: ???

Dub Lines: 9
Hey, they were pretty good, it's just the delivery that was off.

Angel Sanctuary is the most awe-inspiring series I've ever come across.  Well, there is the exception of Neon Genesis Evangelion, but nothing can top that.  Nothing.  Of course, this comes VERY close.  While it my be behind NGE in the awe-inspiring department, it is way ahead of it in the controversy department.  What can possibly be more controversial than having a main character who is an angel and is in love with his biological sister... and helping out a group of individuals who wish to overthrow God?  What can be more controversial than that?  Don't even try to answer that, I likely would be too sickened.  If you try to bear the controversy then you will see one of the greatest anime ever made.  I think it deserves more publicity than it gets.

That's my Story and I'm Sticking to it!
