8 Man After
Episodes Reviewed: N/A, dubbed
Overall Grade: B
By itself it can do okay; it doesn't really require that you watch the first 8 Man series, which I haven't even heard of until I looked it up.
Storyline: 7
I completely forgot that I had watched this anime, so my memory is pretty sketchy (as if that were new!). So, Kazama, the private detective in a big city, decides to find out on his own just what is going on in this factory or business (I knew it for quite some time, but now I've forgotten it) that is causing some bad violence to go on. Geez, is that bad wording or what? Oh well. Anyway, what is going in the city is this: people are getting surgery to make themselves cybernetically enhanced. Don't bother checking o see if that's a word; just think that they've become cyborgs. Why? To loot. While Kazama can take care of the dumbasses pretty easily, he definitely met his match trying to save a love interest from a murderous cyborg. While it seems he's been killed, he hasn't; he lives, miraculously. Also, to clean up the streets, 8Man has returned, and he's more violent than ever! Still good though, just more sadistic. BTW, Kazama has a client who totally acts like an African-American stereotype (at least in the dub), but it doesn't go too far.
Type: Action/Romance
Ch. Development: N/A
Sexuality: 4
Watakushi no kyoko ga (if my memory serves me correctly..) we get a little cleavage shot but that's all.
Romance: 6
While it does seem to start off kinda "one-night stand"-ish, it gets to be more serious... and tragic.
Drama: 6
Yeah, as we look deeper into the lives of the characters, we will notice some tragic events and start to feel sorry. There are also several very tragic scenes. Of course, it lacks a bit in the kickassedness department because 8Man mainly uses the same dashing attack all the time.
Action: 8
It can get pretty intense and bloody. Gallons, I'm sure.
Comedy: 5
Hey, it was funny how that kid was dancing to that rap/hip-hop-like tune. I dunno, I can never tell the difference between the two or any other similar genre of music.
Dub
Dub Voices: 8
VERY good. Could stand to be better.
Dub Music: ???
Dub Lines: 4
One word: Zamma-man!
8Man After is likely a sequel to 8Man, or The 8th Man, or whatever its called. It does have some of the most tragic and dramatic scenes I've ever seen, but it isn't too memorable. Nevertheless, it's a good movie worth a rent. Some of the things may peeve you while they could also be ignored or even preferred. While it might possibly be something you must see if you were a total fan of the original series, it stands as only average if you have no knowledge of the first series.
What I hate is that 8Man does the same attack over and over again until it gets more monotonous than a game of Solitaire. Of course I could understand if that were the same attack used in the orignal series, which backs up my point that it is better if you were a fan of the original series. Without seeing it you could be a little confused at first, but you can get the hang of it and might even feel the urge to see the original series. Like I said before, it's worth a rental.
That's my Story and I'm Sticking to it!
