Mobile Fighter G. Gundam
Episodes Reviewed: All Toonami eps.
Overall Grade: A-
Why must CN get all the good anime before I get a chance to find them myself? WHYYYYY???
Storyline: 10
Yet another magnificent gundam anime! Domon Kasshu is a Gundam Fighter. He pilots a gundam sent to the Earth to take place in Gundam Fights. Gundam Fights exist to find out which nation's colony is best fit to rule the colonies. However, Domon isn't fighting simply for that. No. He fights for something else. He asks people in the countries he fights in about a certain someone in a picture he carries around with him. Even though the answer to who the person in the picture is is revealed in a short time, revealing it now would still count as a spoiler. However, once that is revealed, the series becomes exponentially more interesting.
Type: Action
Ch. Development: 5
The character development is slim in these first few episodes, but I have decent hopes.
Sexuality: 2
So far the most I've seen is a little fanservice.
Romance: 6
Not much at the beginning, but it's really obvious in the second half, and it gets utterly ridiculous at the end.
Drama: 6
Great dramatic moments you can only expect from a Gundam anime. Kickassedness!!
Action: 6
I make it my business to not give anything an action rating of 7 unless there's blood. Can't tell when it's Toonami, though.
Comedy: 4
In later episodes, comedy would just ruin things. But if you think about it, the entire series is like a joke, isn't it? Who knew you could made Gundam into a martial arts drama?
Dub
Dub Voices: 10
Dub Music:
I don't like that the ending themes of Gundam anime are always shortened on CN.
Dub Lines: 10
Censorship: Unknown (as always)
Though I've only seen a few episodes so far, This anime doesn't fail to entertain and doesn't fail to leave you wanting more. The gundam fights are always exciting, and not once have I complained that the idea of gundam fighting as opposed to using gundams as war machines is stupid... because it's not. This is a great idea, and this is pretty much the only reason I managed to really get into this anime. Only this and Gundam Wing really get me excited when it comes to Gundam anime. Then there's also the intrigue of who the man in the photo is in the first few episodes which gets you hooked into wanting to see this through to the end, and after his identity is revealed, it just makes you more interested in seeing the series through to the end. The series was strange for a Gundam series to begin with, and it only gets farther away from its brothers; almost no talk of war 'til the end, and some odd humor. I don't think I ever saw another Gundam series that made use of the giant sweat drop. G Gundam has the elements of a shoujo and a martial arts drama... which isn't bad, but you gotta admit is really different for a Gundam anime. Toonami is definitely the best when it comes to getting good anime... I wonder what their secret is *cough* *coughlookatthecolorofmytextcough*.
That's my Story and I'm Sticking to it!
