Plastic Little
Episodes Reviewed: N/A
Overall Grade: C-
It's pretty okay, but not really worth $30 of hard-earned saved-up lunch money.
Storyline: 6
Okay, so some military faction takes control of something, and this guy sends his daughter, Elysse, to whatever planet it is she goes to. That's where she is nearly caught, had it not been for Tita, captain of the Cha-Cha Maru, a ship used for a crew of pet shop hunters who get pets from the clouds, but hey, that never really has any bearing on the story at all. Tita and Elysse become friends and Tita does her best to help Elysse out with whatever was troubling her, but maybe she doesn't really want to know about the massive weapons and plot to take control of a gravity weapon.....
Type: Action/Comedy
Ch. Development: N/A
I was actually somewhat interested in the charactes, but with a single movie to see them in, it's hard to tell what to think about them.
Sexuality: 7
Most of the stuff here is in a lengthy bath scene, where we see some detailed upper-bodies. Seriously, that didn't need to be there, but whatever floats the creator's boat...
Romance: 4
Some sort of crush (or is it lust?) that one character, Nichol, has on Tita. Lame, but that's not why you would watch it, now is it?
Drama: 6
All the basic stuff that I hope I don't have to type here. Be warned that it can get a little cheesy, and some of the light-heartedness of some situations just takes away from the moment.
Action: 6
Want blood? There's blood. Want explosions? Got that too. Want massive planetary damage? Hell, we got that here too. And luckily there ain't any decaying corpses or bones. Of course, most of the action is small scuffles and a helicopter firing missiles at a speeding hovercraft.
Comedy: 6
Much of the comedy here is pretty perverted, but there are some non-perverted funny moments. Too bad that their placement is just wrong.
Dub
Dub Voices: 2
Maybe I'm too picky, but I'm not too fond of unnecessary accents and highly exaggerated voices.
Dub Music: N/A
That's the best part of ADV doing an anime.
Dub Lines: ???
Never really listened long enough, but it seemed okay.
I'm not too sure why Plastic Little was created. I've heard many stories but never actually believed them. While it's true that Plastic Little is sub-par and that its main selling point is the lengthy bath scene, it's not so bad that "when it was shown at a 'con, it was ... booed." PL deserves much more credit than that. I've also heard that there is a manga about the Tita's adventures with the Pet Shop Hunters of the Cha-Cha Maru, so that's good. If you're curious and don't mind (or prefer) nudity, bouncing breasts, cheesy drama and predictable situations, then it's a worthwhile risk. Be warned that buying the DVD may make you aware of Excel Saga, and that you will watch the Excel Saga preview more than the bath scene until you buy the damn thing.
That's my Story and I'm Sticking to it!
