Urusei Yatsura the Movie 2: Beautiful Dreamer
Episodes Reviewed: N/A
Overall Grade: B
Only a B? Well, if it was everything I was told Urusei Yatsura was, maybe it woulda been an A. As a movie, it's too all over the place to deserve an A. If anything, this is a pretty deep movie with the wrong characters.
Storyline: 7
Hard to explain. The day before the school festival at Tomobiki High, a bunch of stuff crazy stuff happens... as usual. A whole new day, the day before the school festival at Tomobiki High. The students can't reach home and find themselves having to crash at Ataru's. The next day, the day before the school festival. They become aware that something's going on. A flight over the city reveals the mystery, but is there a way for these guys to stop living the same day over and over again? In a situation that's weirder than the norm (and for these guys it's pretty freakin' weird), can they survive when the entire city disappears? Have I said too much already?
Type: Comedy
Ch. Development: N/A
Sexuality: 5
Our hero (can we call him that?), Ataru, is the world's greatest lech in existence. He's willing to forsake his friends to live his dream of being surrounded with beautiful, naked women who love and serve him. Would you want the fate of your existence in his hands?
Romance: 4
If I saw the series, I could explain this better. There are people with crushes on people and people blindly in love with people; nothing special, and it all takes a backseat to insanity.
Drama: 2
I can honestly say there were almost no scenes in this movie that made me go "whoa." These were the ultra-serious scenes that boggled my mind, which was not ready for any level of serious considering I heard Urusei Yatsura was a comedy.
Action: 2
I think I saw a few scenes of slapstick humor.
Comedy: 6
It was plenty fun and I was bombarded with funny surprises one after another, but at the time I was thinking "it's about time," since most of the first half is loaded with all that seriousness I've been complaining about.
Dub
Dub Voices: 6
Some of them don't fit, but they're all bearable.
Dub Music: N/A?

Also works.
As I have said up above, this movie is a bunch of fun and is hilarious, but only if you can get through the odd amount of seriousness in the first half of the movie. The characters are in a weird situation that leaves them stranded in their own city, and speculation about it boggles the mind, especially during the two conversations early on that have lots of talking about existence and time.... it's kinda creepy and doesn't really fit with the movie, which is best done not being as serious. This is probably the worst review I ever made, because I seem all over the place, but that's because of my mixed feelings and the fact that I didn't watch the series. It's confusing!
Still an OK rental though.
That's my Story and I'm Sticking to it!
