Inu-Yasha
Episodes Reviewed: All the Adult Swim episodes that I didn't already read from the manga
Overall Grade: A
Inu-Yasha: A ; Ranma 1/2: A ; Urusei Yatsura: not seen yet ; Maison Ikkoku: A (but I only saw one ep.) Rumiko Takahshi is officially a legend. Not a goddess, but a legend.
Storyline: 10
Kagome: your average teenage girl living in modern Japan. She lives near her grandfather's shrine. Inu-Yasha: your average half-demon, half-human in a state of suspended animation after having an arrow shot at him and pinning him to a tree in feudal Japan. Kagome falls down a well and finds herself in feudal Japan, and is attacked by demons. He frees Inu-Yasha and he saves her. But this ain't your typical hero; like Dark Schneider (Bastard!) he prefers not to be a hero and instead decides to pursue his own ambitions; namely getting his paws on the Shikon jewel to make himself full demon. Yes, not human, demon! However, there are other demons out there looking to gain power from the Shikon jewel themselves, and after Kagome accidentally causes the jewel to be broken into possibly thousands of pieces (lets hope not, or there'll be thousands of episodes) she and Inu-Yasha have got no choice but to work together to make the jewel whole again. They have a Takahshi-style relatonship and meet with other characters, including one who's a Takahshi-style lech! Gotta love that woman.
Type: Comedy/Action
Ch. Development: 10
I sense another several-hundred-episode series.
Sexuality: 6
Not quite as much nudity as the manga, but even then there isn't much. However, there's also the romance, which is slightly higher.
Romance: 7
Wherever there is Takahshi there is comedy and romance. Speaking of comedy...
Drama: 6
Hey, this ain't comedy! Oh well, this series does have plenty of dramatic sequences, and there's also the kickassedness of it all. Most of that being in...
Action: 6
Pints of blood here and there, plenty of swordfighting and mystical powers... that's the kind of action I like! Not ki-blast fests or gross mutations!
Comedy: 8
Sorta tame compared to the likes of Ranma, but it still gets the job done, and it's way funnier than WB anime (not counting the laughable translation jobs).
Dub
Dub Voices: 10
It grows on you easily. Gotta love those pros. Except for a few flaws, but let us pretend they do not exist.
Dub Music: N/A
Dub Lines: 10
All very good, except for my dislike of the old language, but that was likely put there in the Jap. version anyhow, so I can't criticize. Kinda weird though that the old woman is the only one in feudal Japan that talks like that.
Censorship: Unknown
Hey, it's another great masterpiece that's likely going to go on for a few hundred episodes! Wow, I'm gonna be an old man before I can see that! Ah, but let us not forget the fact that DBZ is almost over... only slightly less than fifty more to go! Based on the poplular manga (like almost all good anime are), this anime was an unexpected surprise when I saw it on Adult Swim just before the beginning of the school year. Finally, an anime I knew about before it was aired on CN! I think my rank just went up! Chances are, you already watched this and don't need me to tell you how good it is, but then again, if you're one of the annoying kids that don't appreciate anime at even my simple level, then maybe I have to. The action here is great, even if it isn't believeable. It can get pretty serious, but the pace changes soon enough. There's also all sorts of plot twists and shocking revelations that actually shocked me! Wasn't predictable at all!
Now for a pretend review that a kid might write.
Inuyasha is so cool, because of all the fighting and the funny stuff. Its about Inuyasha, whos a half-demon half-man that wants to take over the world. Also theres a girl named Kagomay and shes in love with Inuyasha. Theres lots of fighting, but not as good as Dragonball Z. It's cool.
Now for a review that an idiot at my high school would write.
Yo, Inuyasha is tight, cuz, 'cause its got all that wicked fighting and shit, and there was that one part, when Inuyasha was fighting that one demon chick, and he put his arm right through her breasts, man, that was tight! And there was this one episode, I forgot what it was called, but I remmeber it reminded me of La Blue Girl.
Exaggerations? Yes, but still believable. It appeals to youngsters and idiots alike even though I don't want it too. Damn fools are ruining anime for me. Yipe, another ramble!
That's my Story and I'm Sticking to it!
