Animerica Extra
Products Reviewed: Too many to list
Avg. Price: $3.99-$4.99, U.S.
Animerica Extra was the first manga compilation I ever even knew about, and it introduced me to the fine world of Fushigi Yugi, as well as several other great manga. Currently, the manga is home to Fushigi Yugi, Steam Detectives, Video Girl Ai, Chicago, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Marrionette Generation, and Banana Fish. All of them are class-S manga, and the price is low, so it's worth a look. If you have the money, subscribe, because until you have the money to buy the graphic novels, you'll want to not miss a single issue. The mag also comes with reviews of manga that hasn't been released here yet, articles about trends, etc. of some manga, and From the Inside Looking Out, an article written by a guy who actually knows firsthand what the anime and manga biz in Japan is really like. In terms of content, it's superior to Shonen Jump, its sister mag. Both are good to get, but not both are good for your money... you will drain your wallet if you try for both of them.
