Haruto Honjo, the son of a minister, is president of Saito High's Holy Student Council, with members Mutsuki Asahina, the daughter of a Shinto priest, and Kazumi Ryudoh, the son of a Buddhist monk. Haruto wants a normal life without any of the supernatural phenomena that Saito High is known for. He wants to resign, but first he must collect the seven badges that have gone missing from the HSC. After the HSC collect the badges from the school's seven wonders and hand them to the Chairman, they find out that the Chairman himself is a ghost (well, Haruto finds out; the other two already knew) and he uses the badges to open the door to the spirit world! Looks like Haruto's life isn't getting any more normal any time soon.

Haruto actually learns how to handle his bizarre life, but that doesn't mean he's giving up any time soon! Everyone else has a little bit of focus every now and then.

Oh so much fanservice. Oh so much disturbing non-fanservice. And don't even get me started on the rampant cleavage shots!

Romance:

When your love interest is actually a lust interest, and when the main female character is into boys under 12 years of age, you ain't likely to see much romance.

There are actually some interesting battle-like situations and tense moments. Not many, but some.

After the badges are collected, they can be summoned to take on evil spirits, though this doesn't actually happen too often.

This anime is crawling with comedy. Crazy situations, crazy fanservice, crazy plot lines sometimes, crazy characters, but not as crazy as the crazier anime. Excel Saga ruined my ability to judge comedy fairly.

Haunted Junction is one of the best anime out there. And by "best," I mean funniest and most original. Hell, I watched Excel Saga, and this series still got me by surprise. Usually I would say something about not being able to prepare you for this, but who needs preperation? Just dive right into it! Well, unless you're religious, are strictly forbidden to view fan service, or have a serious breathing condition that prevents you from laughing hard and living. Otherwise, by not watching it, you're missing out on a true gem. From the obscure Japanese mythology references to the universally funny same-sex perverted image jokes, cliches, and highly unnecessary fanservice, it'll leave you rolling on the floor laughing.... unless you're as unemotional as I, in which case you'll just laugh out loud occasionally. Oh, and I hope you cleaned your floor recently, otherwise you'll get a lot of dust in your lungs.
