DragonBall
"Kamehamehas make Goku hungry"
Episodes Reviewed: 1-current, dubbed
Overall Grade:A
Plenty of fun as we follow the adventures of a tailed kid named Goku, his friends, their training, and a perverted old man.
Storyline: 8-10
Searching for 7 balls that have the ability to call a dragon that can and will grant you a single wish.
Genre:Action/Comedy
Yes.
Ch. Development: 10
With over 100 episodes, there is plenty of time.
Sexuality: 6
There was a time when we could see big breasts when we thought of Dragonball. In DragonballZ, they are replaced by male ass.
Romance: 3
Percentage-wise, very little. Just when Goku marries Chi-Chi, I THINK.
Drama: 6
Klilyn dies for the first time. When did Chao-zu die? I'm still looking into that.
Action: 7
At least it's a nine during Red Ribbon and Piccolo sagas.
Oh, I totally exaggerated on the 9 rating I gave this before.
Comedy:10
Always find some comedy during any situation.
Dub
Dub Voices:
Eh..
Dub Music:
I completely destroyed what I had here. I was talking about DBZ, not DB. Anyway, the music here is almost nonexistent, and the dub music they have is above average. Kudos!
Dub Lines:
Pretty funny, but in the good way. Oh, and obvous changes in translation. Hoi-Poi Capsules=Dino Caps, Lunch=Launch(either way it's still wierd, so why not keep Lunch?), Kame Sen'nin/Muten Roshi= Master Roshi, Nyoibo=Power Pole, Kinto'un=Flying Nimbus.
Censorship:
Cut out some unneeded stuff.
*MAJOR Update*
The unmistakeable "drunken fighting style" has been replaced by the "mad cow fighting style," which is TOTAL crap. Hell, they even made the blow hurt much more by adding in a crudely-drawn cow where I can only guess beer once was. At least they still called Kame Sen'nin "Jackie Chun" for the tournament and not something lamer. BTW, he really was originally called Jackie Chun. I don't know what to say; I guess that Jackie Chan movies go back farther than I once thought. What else... oh, yeah, adding "wave" to Kamehameha, which I already knew before but chose not to add here. It's funny- before watcing that episode, I was about to update here saying how surprised I was at how FUNimation was handling DB... they were handling it pretty damn well, don't you agree? Too bad they couldn't fix up the Saiyaman saga as much as I wanted them to.
Well, I'm now content with the new episodes, but I want more now. It's just a little too bad that FUNimation turned out to be total wusses. I mean, come on! What's wrong with the drunken fighting style and other such things you wimped out on! I can't believe I was about to complement you guys. I will, however, say that you did a great, better job with DB than you did with DBZ, so kudos! It seems I owe you a coke.
That's all! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
