Digimon: Digital Monsters
"Digi-(insert noun, adjective, or verb)"
Episodes Reviewed: All, dubbed
Overall Grade:B
Thicker plot than Pokemon, worse dubbing. It still kicks ass, though. At least these Digimon actually die. But the cutting and horrible voice acting gives this anime a lower grade. Saban, you have just gotten yourselves onto the Lavender list.
Storyline: 6
8 kids and their Digimon partners traverse the Digimon world as well as the real worldin order to defeat those who threaten both worlds and return home.
Genre:Action/Comedy
Digimon action, fun stuff, cute stuff, end.
Ch. Development:6
We eventually get into the pasts of the chosen children sometime.
Sexuality: 2
Very little. There.
Romance:3
Little more than there is sexuality.
Drama: 5
Much more than Pokemon. Hell, there's even death!
Action: 8
Digimon with cool powers destroy other digimon and that's that.
Comedy:9
Well, it would be pretty funny by itself, but Saban feels it needs to be filled with it at all times. Damn you! At least we now know what it would be like if they were in charge of DBZ still.
Dub
Dub Voices:
Below average.
Dub Music:
Too repetitive and often annoying. Sure would be embarassing if that was the actual music! But no Japanese singer would ever make a song that makes up words such as any word with the prefix "digi".
Dub Lines
Sucks. Too much irrelevant and idiotic shit.
Censorship:
Cut out some funny stuff.
Digimon was created for the same reason Monster Rancher and Pokemon were: for more money. Digimon is in several ways better than pokemon with a better storyline, more action, more seriousness, but is so much worse than DBZ when it comes to dub music and dub lines... wait I take that back, they're pretty much tied.
This anime is about 7 (and later 8) kids who arrive in the digiworld to overthrow whoever it is trying to rule it. This has a point: whatever bad happens in the digiworld happens in the real world as well. Should the digiworld be destroyed, the real world is destroyed as well. The "digidestined" (I prefer Chosen Children over Saban's name, since they feel that "digi-" is actually a real prefix) must use their kick-ass/cute digimon to battle other evil digimon, to accomplish their task, and you cand guess where this is headed. When a digimon digivolves, it is sometimes a much better experience than when a pokemon evolves, since these digimon can be pretty cool. Digimon is to be watched by a slightly older crowd of children. Why? Read the above. These digimon are plentiful and actually die... sorta. There is more plot and some violent shit. Saban cut out most of it, like violent deaths, and Tai's punches actually connecting! What is with these guys when it comes to punches connectin? We know what's going on, why won't you let us see it? Dumbasses!
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
