The Dragon Companion
The dragon council of Panthoria several years ago gathered together and created a new spell similar to Find human familiar and find familiar. The spell was designed to link a dragon and another individual or a group together on a telepathic level. The result was a unique spell which allowed a dragon to telepathically communicate with the linked individual and much more. The spell granted telepathy, but also allowed the dragon to "see" through the linked companion's eyes. It also, in advanced cases, granted the sharing of Dragon MR and dragon senses. The linked individual gained strength and endurance and could request spells from the dragon through a form of memorization.
The spell requires the Dragon and companion to spend a full twenty-four hours in each other's company. During this time the dragon takes a section of its original birth egg and grinds it into a fine powder. The powder is then mixed with a small amount of the dragon's blood. The mixture is then consumed by the companion, during which the dragon carefully bites and drinks a small amount of blood from the companion. The next few hours are spent healing and becoming accustomed to the mental link. If the companion is slain it is important to note that the dragon does not suffer any loss save that of a good friend.
Benefits to Companions:
Primary Companion
+10 hitpoints at first level
3%MR per level.
Limited telepathy with Dragon 1000miles
Spell grant from dragon*
After four hours of meditation the companion may request a number of spells equal to his/her current level. Note these are a level of spells (i.e. a fourth level
Companion could memorize two 2nd level cleric or mage spells or one 3rd level spell and one 1st level spell). These spells act as innate abilities and do not require incants or components. They do however require an action to cast.
Secondary companion powers.
Dragons may also choose to create secondary companions. The secondary companions are limited in their abilities and the range of communication. Secondary companions are created using the same ritual as stated above, with the exception that the blood of the primary companion must add a small amount of blood to the elixir. This links both the Dragon; primary and secondary companions telepathically and empathetically.
+10 hitpoints at first level.
2%MR per level.
Telepathic communication with dragon 5mile range
Spell grant from dragon*
Same as primary companion but at half the characters level. It is important to note that if the secondary companion is outside the 5mile range he/she cannot request spells without the aid of the primary companion.
A dragon may have only one primary companion for every five-age category, but may have a secondary companion per age category.
