Home to the Kansas City Chiefs for 27 years. 2002 is the seventh season as the home of the Kansas City Wizards at Arrowhead Stadium. The stadium is downsized from 79,101 seats to 20,571 for soccer. Arrowhead is part of the Harry S. Truman Sports Complex, which also includes a 42,000-seat baseball stadium. Arrowhead Stadium was dedicated on August 12, 1972 at the inaugural preseason game between the Chiefs and the old St. Louis Cardinals. In the 25+ years since that first game, over 13 million spectators have passed through the stadium turnstiles to enjoy Chiefs football. After 23 years of artificial turf, Arrowhead Stadium switched to a grass playing surface for the first time in 1994, paving the way for soccer to become a permanent resident at America's finest stadium.
