There's talk of razing it. And maybe it's the right idea, because as far as arenas go, this one is getting old. Built in 1981 to house the Nets and the then newly arrived Devils, this roughly 20,000-seat facility seems to butter its bread elsewhere, with concerts and events such as pro wrestling, dog shows and huge sales. Sports-wise, although the Devils have been a playoff contender and Stanley Cup winner for most of the past ten years, it seems that the Nets will have to become a powerhouse for this place to get rebuilt or renovated. Until then, it still has a state-of- the-art, four-sided Sony Jumbotron, more comfy seating than Madison Square Garden and ample parking for tailgating in the warmer months. Oh yeah, and there's arena football, too. In case you forgot.
