The Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer, through its parent company Anschutz Entertainment Group, reached an agreement with the Stadium Management Company of Denver to play at INVESCO Field at Mile High. The three-year deal, which includes two five-year options, will take effect beginning with the 2002 season. Financial terms of the lease have not been disclosed.
The stadium will be reconfigured for Rapids games to provide a more intimate soccer facility than Denver soccer fans have ever known. By utilizing only the lower bowl for home games, the Rapids will structure the environment to bring supporters closer to the action than ever before.
