Something stirring
shining bright
beckons curiosity
to follow the light

Nearing the water
to look and see
a face so familiar
who can it be

A young reflection
and gasp of surprise
tiny soft curls
beside fluttering butterflies

An outstretched hand
and soft little fingers
touching a mirror
of the image that lingers

Gentle ripples forming
a likeness now replaced
once a perfect picture
so suddenly erased
