Clondalkin Youth Band is privileged to be under the expert
guidance and baton of Mr. Vincent Dolan. A graduate of the College
of Music, Dublin, he holds diplomas for clarinet, piano, saxophone, flute,
advanced harmony and composition. A full-time member of the Irish
Army School of Music, he has taught and conducted the Cambridge Concert
Band; The College of Music Extern Center in Ballyfermot VEC, Dublin; The
Kearney School of Music, Artane, Dublin; The Palmerstown School of Music;
Newpark Comprehensive School Music Center and acted as Assistant Director
of Mullingar Town Band for many years, prior to founding Clondalkin Youth
Band.
His expertise and knowledge of the marching band is sought by many bands throughout the country, and his dedication to furthering the musical education of young people is renowned. He has visited and liased with bands throughout England, Belgium, the Netherlands and the USA, organising in 1996 a Band Camp Week for the young people with one of the US's top show designers and band instructors, Professor Barry Bernhardt of the University of Missouri. In 1998 he arranged another Dublin/USA link-up, teaming up to perform with a South Carolina High School Band in the Dublin and Clondalkin St. Patrick's Day Parades. |
