The Maple School of Irish Dancing

 

The Maple School Of Irish Dancing is directed by Bill and Marnie O'Callaghan-Maple. Bill, the 1982 North American Senior Men's Champion and World Championship step dancer and Marnie, also a World Championship dancer, are both fully accredited teachers of Irish dancing (TCRG's) with An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha, in Dublin, Ireland. Bill has been a certified dance teacher since 1982 and Marnie since 1990.

 

Dancers from the Maple School have performed at the White House, the Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian, Wolf Trap and various cultural festivals throughout the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. They have also danced for the Irish Prime Minister and for charitable organization such as The N.I.H. Children?s Inn and local area nursing homes.

 

The Maple School dancers have won titles at the Southern Regional championships in both solo and team dancing as well as placing at the North American Championships. Most recently, the Maple School took first place in 10 of the 12 team competitions they participated in, in St. Petersburg, Florida; including the prestigious "Senior Dance Drama" competition for which they received a standing ovation!

 

This coming April, 15 students from the school will be competing in the World Irish Dancing Championships in Ennis, Ireland.

 

Teachers, students and parents involved with the Maple School are dedicated to bringing Irish culture and dance to the community and beyond.

 

The Maple School has become one of the most popular schools of Irish dance in the greater Washington, D.C. area, with enrollment more than tripling over the past two years. Classes for both children and adults are held in McLean, Virginia and in Bethesda, Maryland and performances are given throughout the year.
