System of Pastoral Care

Great emphasis is places on the pastoral care of each individual student. Each year group has a Year Head, and each class group a Form Tutor. There is a weekly assembly with each year group and this also forms part of the formation programme within the school.

Prefects

Senior students are encouraged to take an active part in the running of the school through the Prefect System. The prefects are given responsibility for helping younger girls to settle into school life. They are also given the experience to use their initiative in working to improve the school community.

Guidance Service

The school Guidance Counsellor organises a service consisting of educational and vocational guidance and personal counselling for students. The service consists of weekly class sessions with all 4th, 5th & 6th Year students appropriate to their developing needs. Sixth year students are interviewed individually to help them in decision making, in making application for Courses or preparing for entry to the world of work. A careers information library is maintained and careers related speakers are invited to the school. Arrangements for attendance at major career conferences etc. are facilitated.

Individual student counselling and parents support are available by appointment. The counsellor where appropriate calls upon the Department of Educational Psychological Service and other support services to assist individual cases.
