I began what became a lifelong study of things Foolish when, at the tender age of 7, I tried to fly from a 2nd story window using only cardboard wings. Which is one reason why I got this post with his Lairdship--we're both interested in flying,
with or without a vehicle.
Other reasons his Lairdship hired me are my ability to perform the juggling version of "The Bruces' Philosophers Song", and my unfettered-by-common-sense-or-good-taste skill at mixing comedic metaphors.

Actually, these were the only reasons I was hired. I'm not even a very good juggler*. But, since there were no other applicants, these were good enough reasons to become the Court Fool for the stuffed Bunny chief of a fictitious clan...


*I still work with spheres, as opposed to clubs or other thing which have a specific orientation--
my goal is to eventually be able to juggle skein dhus.

The Flying Karamazov Brothers!
These guys are great!
I hold The Flying Karamazov Brothers responsible for what passes (juggling pun intended!) for my juggling. See, I'd always figured that I was too uncoordinated to juggle, till I saw them in a Showtime special. They did this bit where Ivan comes out and says (as near as I can remember) "Juggling is a series of events--throws and catches--graphed against a continuum of time. This we call rythm. Music is also a series of events--notes and rests--graphed against a continuum of time. Now, logic tells us that if A=B and B=C, then A=C, therefore Juggling is Music!" And he goes on to prove it, with the help of Dmitri, by simultaneously juggling and playing a two-part Bach invention on the xylophone.
I also saw (PBS this time) them do The Juggling Version of Much Ado About Nothing. It was a regular presentation of the Bard's work, except that all the cast always juggled. Pretty cool, and sparked the creation of the aforementioned juggling version of "The Bruces' Philosophers Song".
so if you see me do it sometime, and think it's stupid, blame them....

David Blaine, Magic Man  ABC special 4/14/99

David Blaine defies anything that most people would define as reality. I, personally, support Charles de Lint's concept of "consensual reality",* i.e. that what we percieve as reality exists because enough people agree that it exists. Well, Mr. Blaine clearly lives by his own rules, not the ones most people agree on. Anyone who's seen his TV specials will understand.** My husband, the ever-practical twice-Capricorn (birth and ascendant) Androgen Skyewalker, maintains that it's all a TV trick. (Well, he doesn't actually maintain that. He just said that, 'cos he knew it'd piss me off. He's a great Devil's Advocate....or maybe that's ME, and he's just a regular guy...)ANyway, Mr. Blaine is pretty amazing. I'd really be loving it if you folks (being anyone who reads this) would let me know if you saw the show, and what you think. Sign my guestbook, or email me...


*Well, actually, he says it's not his, but since he doesn't remember who he got it from, I'm afraid he's stuck with it...

Amergin Skyewalker is my own alter ego/persona, spontaneously produced out of thin air (at an Improbability Factor of two to the power of two hundred and seventy-six thousand, seven hundred and nine to one against) in the basement lounge of Ferlochen Brewery on March 22, 1999. Anyone else strange enough to claim to be either my real self, Geneva Eppes ni Seobhan, or my not-so-real self, Amergin Skyewalker, is not only ripping me off, but should have their head examined by a qualified mental health professional, post haste.




In the extremely improbable (nothing's impossible) off-chance that Mr. Lucas ever sees this, I must say that the use of "Amergin (the son-of-Mil bard who [was the first human to] first set foot on Erin's Isle) Skyewalker" and "May the Farce be wi' ye" is intended as a loving parody. Mr. Lucas' films have brought me much enjoyment, and enlightenment, for over 20 years (yes, I saw Star Wars the first day it opened).
