836- 858 KENNETH I. Kenneth MacAlpine became king of Dalriada in 836 and in 844 of Picts and Scots, crowned at Scone, +858. Originally King of the Scots of Dalriada he also had claims to the Pictish throne by his mother. He fell on the Picts, weakened by the Norse raids, gained success over them and thus united "Scotland".
