MAGNUS -1047 Harthacnut King of England had given the Danish possessions to Magnus. In 1042 these possessions were claimed by Sven, son of Knut's sister and Harald Sigurdarson took Svens side in the subsequent quarrel thus succeeding to the throne after Magnus' death. Afer his conquest of the Hebrides and Man he appointed Olaf the Red viceroy and King of the Isles.
