A stiking young woman inhaled on stage. The blinding white lights above her accented her tall, lanky figure as a band behind her began playing a familiar song, familiar, at least, to a fanatical crowd of hyperfans.

"Arigatou Gozaimashitaaaa!!!", the girl exclaimed, her voice alternating from hard and deep to squeaky and cutesy. The crowd ate it up, and clapped in tune to the music.

"Miko-chan! Miko-chan! Miko-chan!!!"

The woman smiled and wiped a drop of sweat off her brow. Despite what had happened in her last tour, she was ecstatic to see that the people seem to have forgotten. Thank god for fickle fans.

"You guys are all the BEST!!!!" she screamed in poor English, wincing afterwards. "My English is awful, I hope you love me anyway!" She followed up, returning to Japanese.

The crowd's response reassured her. She still resolved to leave the English lyrics and exclamations to that jackass Harusuke Hutaki.

The song started, and she flung herself into it effortlessly. It was her only cover song but admittedly a crowd favorite.

The guitarist of the band came up to her and handed her his guitar. She smiles at him, gives him a wink and took over for the main guitar solo, much to the joy of the fans. She rarely showed her talent in playing the instrument, but when she did, the entire mood of the concert hall changed to one of awe.

At the same time, the doors in the back of the hall opened and two shadowy figures entered. The people in the back row turned around just long enough to catch a glimpse of them, but then immediately diverted their attention back to the woman on stage.

The two who entered were an odd pair, who more than a bit resembled either the Trenchcoat Mafia or Neo and Trinity from the Matrix. One was a strikingly beautiful man; tall, obviously muscular with long, unbelievably silky black hair that was partly in a ponytail, partly gelled in stiff layers around his face. The other was a shorter and tougher looking female, with long, somewhat thick black hair and a smaller frame. Both wore identical clothes and sunglasses. Both looked dutifully toward the stage, not as fans, but as people on a mission.

Suddenly, the music missed a beat. The girl on stage whirled around to find out what happened, but a blinding light filled the sky before she was able to get the story. The light was gone as soon as it arrived, and she finished the song..

tada aruku hitogomi ni magire
itsumo nazeka nakitakunaru....

And suddenly, a streak of light flew through the sky and exploded in the middle of the concert hall. Chaos broke out almost instantly, as people scattered and the few unfortunate who were hit fell to the ground. Another blast, and another, flew to the ground. The band, who had since stopped playing, were long gone.

But in the idol singer, Mikono Hayagane's mind, the song continued. She saw the crowds, who a second earlier were absorbed only in her, falling to the ground, bloodied, or fleeing for their lives. And all she could do was stand on stage and wonder...

Wonder...

What is that light?

The next thing she knew, a blast of the murderous energy was slicing through her. Her small body was torn in half, and in her mind, a scream of agony reigned through the hall.. but the only sound she could make was a whisper. As the once-tall and beautful figure collapsed to the stage in a heap, the two figures at the back of the auditorium who had since been pushing people through the doors with ultimate ferocity broke into a run down the halls toward the stage.

The smaller figure, the woman, whips a small object out of the inside of her trenchcoat as she runs, and holds it out. A wave of reddish purple energy flows over her and she suddenly transforms into a sleek, red and white warrior with short, utilitarian "hair", a visible fin on her head, and an unusual holster on her thigh. She stops and silently meditates for a moment, then points toward the sky with two fingers and her forehead illumiates. "Heroine RAY!!", she exclaimed, and an impressive ray destroyed the flying craft from which the energy had eminated.

The second figure had since reached the stage, jumped onto it with no effort, and turned over the frayed girl. Her frail body was completely limp, and he winces momentarily at the sight of her internal organs exposed under her torn shirt. "I'm sorry, ningyou" he whispers, his voice soft and compassionate. The woman propels herself on stage also with no effort, and kneels down next to the two. "Damn. How many people, can you see?" her tone of voice with the man was demure and respectful, with some irritation but not enough to appear impudent. He looks up at her, and shakes his head. "Did you see what type?"

She shakes her head now, and looks down sadly. "I'm afraid it wasn't really my objective..."

He frowns. "This is not what we need. Damn it." Then he looks down at the girl, whose blood is staining his pants.

"Captain, your pants.." the woman says quietly.

He looks at her, with a small wry smile. "I think it's time, Theresa."

She sighs and holds out her hands, and suddenly, a burst of light appears and a green chalice of sorts enters her hands.

"Just long enough until the mother arrives." The woman nods.

Backstage, a shadowy figure stands solemnly, watching the whole spectacle. "Hayagane.. dead?"

"Shame you won't be able to enjoy it.", a voice whispers from behind him. The male turned around and feels a hot blade in his back. "Aaa... a..." His pale blue eyes grew wide, and he fell to the ground.
