Ultra Symphony
Chapter 27: A hope for tomorrow's chaos
***
A dynamic, almost glowing cerulean rain sliced through the dark sky, and in the foggy midst lay a dark, rather impractical but very decorated structure consisting of intertwining crystal arches and one large, dark tower. On top of the domed tower, an ancient-looking pointed star stood strong against the raging flow of the rain.
"With one blast, Mistress. One BLAST!" An angry voice exclaimed.
A darkened and graceful figure sat regally atop a massive throne, looking down onto a long, elegant marble hall. In rows that seemed to go on forever stood legions of caped soldiers, and at the foot of the throne their furious commander was bowed down, shaking with fury.
"Our attempts to disable the human base were unsuccessful, and our level 13 warrior was destroyed with one blast!"
She took a long sip of some sort of bottled liquid.
"Four Ultras, Mistress. FOUR. That's nearly half of..."
"We obviously have made progress. Their base is disabled. Their monster detection capabilities are greatly depleted. It's safe to assume they'll be less likely to be prepared for an attack." A female voice said calmly. The crouched figure turned his head in annoyance, and behind him stood a poised, petite pink Ultra woman.
The figure on the throne watched in amusement as the commander stood up. "Ultra Sakura, I don't believe you were invited to this meeting."
"Mistress Hinotama, our Earthian efforts are progressing well. We have to be content to take it at the rate it's going and not make any more ridiculously grandiose moves that could end up costing us men." Sakura said steadily, looking directly at the commander the whole time.
"The rate it's GOING is going to end up with All ten Ultras on Earth before we've got enough firepower to tickle them. Mistress, our greatest enemy is inaction! If we've got the ability, we've got to destroy the Ultras before any more Earthlings can be discovered, and we've got to do it now!"
Mistress Hinotama stood up and began to descend the stairs on the front of the throne. Her long, black hair floated behind her, and a high-slit skirt swished around her legs. The picture of elegance, she smoothly spoke as she landed on the marble floor.
"Earth has much faith in them. As they had faith in us." She looked at Sakura and the commander, who was seen to have a dark blue color timer on his chest under his cape. "But we've got enough disposable warriors to let this take as long as it damn well wants to."
Sakura and the commander frowned, but Hinotama just innocently cocked her head.
"Humanity is here for only one reason: To serve us. Let them feel they've won. How does that affect our imminent victory?"

After the commander and Sakura had gone, and the room was as empty as a room full of armed guards ever got, Hinotama returned to her throne. She tapped a few controls on the arm of her throne, and a large iridescent globe materialized in the air in front of her. A blurry image appeared, of two men in intense Samurai-style combat. They fought in a traditional Japanese dojo amidst a crowd of modern-looking spectators.
The scene switched to a happy couple eating popsicles shaped like samurai swords, and kids hitting each other with balloons that read "Samurai World" on them.
The scene switched again, to a pair of thin, short legs in sandals. The picture was blurred, but there were still very visible red cuts all over them. Hinotama was curious, and raised her head. The image ran up the figure's body, to show a young girl of about 12, wearing a short brown dress. She stood in front of a sink, washing dishes. She had shoulder length black hair and a crazed expression. Her dark eyes stared into space as she washed plates, bowls, chopsticks.. but the knives she washed she paid special attention to; stroking them with her hand.
Hinotama switched the angle so she was staring right into the girl's eyes. The reflection of red blood shone into the purple depths, and the sink begun running over, water mixing into blood as the girl suddenly dug the knife into her thin wrists.
