Chapter 28: Blue
***
Kenji and Tsiyuko Senjouno knew from her birth that their second daughter was to be special. They'd never been more proud of anyone than they were of little Tsubasa. Every step she took seemed to be guided by the wings of a thousand angels, and they knew some day, she would truly change the world...
"Little girl, why are you crying?" A soft voice whispered.
Senjouno lay on the floor, staring at the ceiling with unfocused eyes. She felt a warm liquid roll down her cheek.
"I'm... not crying." she whispered weakly. She closed her eyes and turned her head. Her short black hair dipped into a dark liquid that spread out around her.
"I think you are crying." The same voice hummed, louder this time. "I think you're crying because you're going to die.
"No...." Senjouno whispered.
"Why do you want to die? Why would a little girl like you want to die?"
Senjouno didn't say anything, she just opened her eyes and watched a river of blood flow above her limp wrist.
"Little girl, is your soul blue?"
"It's my mother.. father..." Senjouno croaked inaudibly. "They'd... be so ashamed of me. You don't know what it's like. To have all their dreams put on you... to have your fate destined from day one. Wouldn't ever change the world... why wouldn't they believe me...?!"
A misty blue haze filled the room, and Senjouno coughed, her breath slowing.
"Why wouldn't they let you live?"
Senjouno cried, low in her throat.
"Do you believe, little girl, that you could change the world?"
She shook her head, weakly.
Suddenly, from out of nowhere, a hand cupped her chin in its palm. A pair of deep blue pupilless eyes met Senjouno's, and she gasped as well as she could.
"You decided to die. Some may believe that's unfortunate." The voice said kindly. "But you don't think so. And neither do I. That makes us alike, doesn't it?"
Senjouno's sight grew blurry, but she blinked and tried to understand what this woman was trying to say.
"Don't fight it, Senjouno. I can't help you until you're dead."
Senjouno's eyes grew wide, and then she took one painful gasp as her body shuddered violently. Blood sprayed out of her mouth, and her eyes remained dark and shocked as her heart stopped.
A dark shadow floated over her, and her eyes momentarily flashed with blue.

Her frail body spread out as if she were performing some elaborate ballet of death. Around her, blue-tinted blood formed the shape of wings, and the hair sections that had been dipped in blood had turned pure white.
They'd find her soon, but when they did, her heart would be beating.
