Chapter 40: Mirai no MISSION pt. 1
Mikono closed her eyes at the sound of Jerry outside her door, laughing, joking and talking with photographers and Akikutsu Records publicists.
"Oh god.. why is everyone here? Why's everyone at my house?!" Mikono whispered, running her hands through her messy hair. She gritted her teeth and tried to think of a way out of this darkness that was creeping over her.
Jerry had been part of her life for years now, ever since she was first discovered in her early teens, but he'd never behaved this way before. Now, it was almost as though nothing had even happened.. but Mikono could not shake the feeling as easily as he had.
She tugged at the dress she'd been made to wear, knowing it was far too young for her, but glad that the sleeves covered her shoulder. As she forced herself to walk out the door, the large group turned around and smiled.
"Good day, Hayagane-san." was her greeting. Not at all warm, but said the way one would congratulate a champion racehorse. She was a commodity. She was needed to make the quarterly worthwhile and sell more records.
"Hi.." She said quietly.
Jerry broke away from his conversation with a portly, balding publicist, and walked over to Mikono.
"Great to see you, Miko. Like the dress, like the hair. We really don't have to do much with the hair, do we, Koreyama-san? I don't think so, it's pretty tousled and that's kinda the thing now."
Mikono swallowed. "So.. um.. what are we waiting for..? Takahisa park, right?"

Theresa, Jack and Zoffy stood their ground, blinking as the light died down. When they were able to see again, they saw that absolutely nothing had changed. The 5 enemy ultras were in the sky, blocking out the sun.
"You simply would not listen to us. Your destruction could have been painless and brief. As it is now, we've run out of time."
"Run out of time for what?!" Theresa cried.
"To change the past." The female replied.
"If.. you want to change the past, wouldn't it help if you were IN the past?" Jack asked suspiciously.
"We were." One of the men replied. "But some idealistic fools we used to know got in the way, once again."
As the trio of Jack, Theresa and Zoffy looked around, they began to notice subtle differences between the city the way it looked before that light, and the way it looked now.
"Where the hell are we?!" Theresa whispered loudly.
"Downtown Tokyo, of course." The leader replied. "January 8, 2102."
"But.. I don't understand.. if you come from the future.. what is your mission??" Zoffy asked calmly.
"Zoffy. Look around you. This city has been abandoned for 100 years. Dead. Nothing's changed. Something major did change, and we went back to stop it. We went back to kill those that killed this planet."
"But why you? Couldn't we handle it?!" Jack asked.
"Yeah.. it's kind of our job..." Theresa added.
"YOUR JOB?! You failed this planet in such a way that we're ashamed to even show our faces to humanity again, and here you are talking about your 'JOB'." the woman screamed.
"So.. you're.. trying to save humanity?!" Zoffy asked slowly.
"Exactly." The leader said gruffly.
"But from what? From whom?"
"Those that killed the planet are those that we must kill."
"Who is th..." Zoffy began, but he suddenly felt a chill run through him.
The leader suddenly dropped down next to him, and stood face to face with the Ultra. Zoffy looked at the man before him, all his red and silver markings all melted together, and the distinguishing lumps that seemed to have once been arranged in a pattern.
"We went back in time," the leader said, "To kill OURSELVES."
