The CATs tracked him down, and Majestic, who at this point was extremely peeved, zapped him to oblivion with his eye beams. Or so we thought.

It turned out that Tao had manipulated a shapeshifting alien named Mr. White into posing as him. Mr. White copped all the flak while Tao got off scott-free.

At present, Tao runs an underground crime network in the comic book series Sleeper. (Also see the miniseries Point Blank, which is a prequel of sorts to Sleeper.) He doesn't have super powers such as enhanced strength or energy blasts, but beware: he's possibly the most intelligent being on the planet, and can talk people into literally doing anything he wants. He's a dangerous man indeed-- in the criminal underworld and on the dance floor.
