Salmon
This one is a bit esoteric unless you live in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Those of you who do must understand that the salmon is an evil fish. In Chicago every issue becomes a race issue, in the Pacific Northwest every issue becomes a salmon issue. If the Pope issues a papal decree, the first question north westerners ask is, "How does it effect the salmon?" If NASA announced that a rogue asteroid was hurdling towards the earth, the first thought north westerners have is, "Oh, my God, the poor salmon!" We are even ripping out dams to make life a little easier on these helpless fish.
This is really going to rock some boats, but this is just a stupid fish, people. It has no more real value in the ecosystem than the jellyfish, barnacles, or tube worms. No one is advocating the mindless genocide of the salmon species, we prefer a well thought out plan. We could place them in boxcars, and railroad them off to remote "relocation" camps, when they arrive we tell them that they have to take a bath in cool pond we have inside nearby buildings , but the buildings are actually giant smokehouses.
