Plot:
The best friends of Broadway star Margo Channing are the playwriter LLoyd Richards and his wife Karen and her secretary, Eve Harrington. Also, Margo's in love with director Bill Samson. Eve starts taking some threatening initiatives: she sends Bill Margo's birthday wishes and arranges a party for him; naturally Margo "explodes". Eve becomes Margo's understudy and when Margo misses a performance, critic Addison de Witt gives her great reviews, while making some "acid" remarks about aging stars. Margo and Bill get engaged and Eve tries to force Karen to convince her husband to give her the leading part in his next play. Margo announces to LLoyd that she's decided to retire.
