Hello and welcome to the world's first, largest and so far only Terry Jones fan site.
This site is dedicated to the great British writer, performer, director, comedian, Python and all round nice bloke that is Terry Jones. Terry is, in my opinion, the most underestimated of the members of Monty Python. I believe this is mainly because it was he who was usually called up to play the 'straight' parts in many of the Python sketches. This can be seen in sketches such as Nudge Nudge or the Bruces.
However, his work was often the most fascinating, as he brilliantly portrayed the upper class, bowler-hatted, English everyman surrounded by madmen. He almost always played the judge or the policeman figures in the Pythons courtroom sketches, and he also embraced grotesques such as Mr Creosote in the Pythons last film, The Meaning of Life.
Out of all the Pythons, he was the finest at playing the character of a Pepperpot, a nosy, complaining old woman. Outside of acting, he was also a talented director, co-directing with Terry Gilliam many of the Pythons post-television film work and creating many more films of his own. He was heavily involved with the editing of the series, sitting in on many editing sessions. And, last but not least, he was a damn good writer, penning many sketches with his co-writer, Michael Palin. That is why I believe he deserves an Internet fan site.

I have tried to include as much information and files as possible, but my lack of a video capture card, coupled with little knowledge of sound editing, has hampered me. However, I believe I now have one of the most complete collection of Terry Jones pictures and sounds on the net. Many of my sound and picture files have been deliberately, and knowingly, borrowed from my friend Maverick's excellent Monty Python site at MontyPython.Net. I have also tried to record some of the sounds myself.

Many of the sounds on this site may not run properly on your system. These will require an encoder to get them working. To test whether you will need this, click here. If the sound plays okay, you do not need the encoder. If it doesn't, then download it, run it, restart your computer and it should work.

News

The Python 30th Anniversary Reunion went ahead on Saturday 9th October on BBC2. Terry Jones featured prominently in the new material, along with John, Michael and the other Terry, and Eric did a short talk on who Monty Python really was. I'm in the process of recording some of the sounds from the programs onto my computer, and I should have them up in a week or so.
Terry's next appearance will be in a German produced film called 'Mumbo Jumbo', a mistaken-identity type affair with Stephen Cookson directing. He's probably also sat somewhere sifting through the mound of scripts lying around his house. Thanks to PythoNet for that info.

Totally Unrelated 'Me' News

On the 12th of November, a Python tribute show which I've directed and appear in will be performed in Nottingham, England, to raise money for the Imperial Cancer Research Fund. Please visit our website for more information, some photos and a bit of other stuff. Thanks!

Site Updates

28/10/99 -- I was recently added to the alt.fan.monty-python FAQ. Why not visit it at http://home.hiwaay.net/~janglin/BOOKS.HTML? Thanks to Analda Anglin for that!

15/08/99 -- TerryJones.net has got frames! Hurrah! And it only took me ten minutes...

13/08/99 -- The first update of TerryJones.net. I've spent the last week or so collecting sounds and pictures, and uploading them. I now think I've got enough to keep you busy for a while. In the future I'll be adding more sounds, mainly from Python, as I record them. At the moment there is a sizeable number of Python TV sounds, Python film sounds and a few Wind in the Willows sounds which I'll be adding to soon. Also planned is a special Erik the Viking page complete with sounds and pictures. A Ripping Yarns page could also be in the offing and I hope to learn a bit of Java soon. Until then, please have a good browse and report any problems to me as soon as possible. Enjoy! -- TailMange (Lee Bradley) webmaster@terryjones.cjb.net
