Too Much Visual Stimulus:

- Patterned Floors,
- Staring at multiple objects on a shelf in a video store
- Striped crosswalks in New York City
- Sitting at table in a busy restaurant
- Swaying trees from heavy wind
- Things moving around my feet, lower leg, like the dog, cats, etc.
- Certain tv shows like NYPD Blue, camera movements
- Busy environments - stores/airports/train stations

Visually Active Environments

- Like being at a movie theater (can't tolerate)
- The lines on the road as the car moves.
- Walking down aisles in stores
- Trees whizzing by while riding in car
- Cars whizzing by
- Riding as a passenger in a car
- Going through tunnels in a car
- Spinning ceiling fans

Shiny Light:

- Reflection on glass of water, or reflection off shiny silverware
- Bright sunlight
- Bright snow
- Headlights on cars moving towards me and also behind me
- The lights in bright stores
- Walking on shiny floors

Fluctuating Light:

- Light that fluctuates
- Sunlight flashing through the trees while driving
- Ceiling fans with lights
- Fluorescent lighting,

Lack of Visual Stimulus:

- Watching aeroplanes/stars in the sky
- Movie theaters
- Walking into darkened rooms
- While showering....having to close my eyes to wash hair
- Walking up or down stairs without watching my feet
- Darkness
- Watching tv in a dark room
- Cinema
- Reading while bus or car is in motion
- Reading
- Playing piano

Disorientating Visual Triggers:

- Wonky Bookcases
- High ceilings/airports
- Pictures on the walls that are not straight


MOVEMENTS:


"Self" Movement:

- Bending over (eg washing dishes, cooking and stirring food
- Rolling over in bed (triggered vertigo)
- Getting up too fast - from bed or from putting shoes on, etc.
- Turning fast
- Standing up after driving, yet I feel better when driving!
- Standing up at the end of a movie, and trying to do those stairs!
- Reaching up,
- Sitting quickly,
- Swinging arms freely,
- Kissing/Hugging,

Head Movements:

- Showers
- Turning my head quickly (triggered vertigo)
- Looking up or down
- Holding neck at wrong angle
- Applying pressure to a certain area of the back of the head or tilting the head, cramping the bloodflow.
- Drying hair,
- Turning my head too fast
"Forced" Movement:

- People putting their hand on the back of my chair (if it moves!) or shaking the couch (if I'm sitting there).
- Wobbly chairs/table
- My children hanging on me or running around me.
- Ride in an elevator/escalator
- Car journeys

NOISE TRIGGERS:


Loud Noises:

- Being in a crowded room with a lot of noise
- Sitting in a busy restaurant
- Shopping in stores (crowded areas) or anywhere where it is busy
- The loudness of the theaters
- Some loud noises
- Loud noisy people
- Loud tv
- Loud beating music

TACTILE TRIGGERS:


- Walking on grass
- Walk on uneven surfaces
- Walking on gravel
- Up or down a slight ramp

ATMOSPHERIC TRIGGERS:


- Going outside into the cool air, after being inside in the heated room. And vise versa.
- Humidity change
- Cold wind
- Weather changes

OTHER TRIGGERS:


- Using computer too much
- Over eating sweet food,ie.cookies, desserts,chocolate
- Certain medications, esp. antihistamine, most antidepressants
- Lack of sleep
- Standing still (eg queues)
