Nutrition & Menieres Disease

As I have stated on other pages in this site, I am not a physician or a dietician. I am a fellow coper who is using this web site as tool to learn how to make myself better. Hopefully you find something of value here as well.

These are types of food items that most menieres sufferers try to avoid either by the advice of a doctor or by experimentation. Remember, we are all individuals and react differently to each of these items. These are the ones that seem to be the most common. Remember to always consult a physician before starting any new diet.
1. Low Sodium (Below 2000mg.An acceptable range seems to be between 1000mg and 2000mg
2. No Caffiene
3. No Tobacco
4. No Alcohol
In adition to these items, many people find that certain other types of food trigger vertigo attacks. This is not a complete list. What works for one person may not for another. The best advice is to keep a journal of what you eat. If you see a pattern of attacks after certain kinds of food, remove them from your diet for a few weeks. Then introduce them back into your diet one at a time, noting any changes you experience. You may find one or some of these foods effect you, or you may find that some foods listed not here trigger your symptoms. Always check with a doctor before beginning any new diet.
