Spirit of the Eagle
The eagle has long been upheld as an emblem of a great spirit.
The Indians were the first to recongize this bird as a symbol
of greatness. With all it's beauty and power, it is easy to understand
why.
It is only proper and fitting that this bird reperesent our great Nation.
This is America's symbol of Freedom, for what would freedom be without
spirit?
How many times have we viewed this wonderful bird in flight and wished
to be able to "fly like an eagle"? Just as the wings of the eagle sail
upon the fresh air of the blue sky, so does Old Glory wave to the eagle
as she passes.
I have stood in Williamsburg and watched an eagle as she has graced my
view. Flying overhead with a content look. A look of peace and pride,
with a vision of freedom for tomorrow. As long as the eagle is able to
grace the skies of our nation, there will be Freedom in America, and
as long as we have freedom, we have something far above riches and
wealth, we have spirit in America.
