Some of my Lathe Turnings
A segmented Vase made from over 180 seperate pieces of Oak, Maple, Purpleheart, Mahagony, Cypress, and Walnut.
My very first attempt at a bowl!... and it ended up being a cup :)

I used a tiny Ryobi lathe and an old Sears Craftsman scraper and attacked!

This was before I added the stem and base....
My 15 year old daughter Amanda came home with a GOOD note from a teacher! After I recovered from the shock, I turned a Maple frame for the note to commerate this historic occasion. A plexiglass circle is inset in the recessed face.
A turned plate made with Cypress and Purpleheart.
6 1/2" diameter

Vase from Cypress segments...

8" high, 5" at the top.
This was my second
(I think?)
turning where I tried a face turning for the first time...

Since it didn't blow up, I turned a spindle and a base and called it a Candy Dish!

(yea, like that's what I meant it to be :) )
Here's my very first Natural Edge bowl turned from a chuck of a Pear tree a neighbor had chopped down. It's 7" wide, 8" tall.
Here's another Bowl from that same Pear tree...

6" high, 5 1/2" tall

Here's the bottom :)
Pear bowl...

I call this my DEVO bowl, for those that remember that uhh.. "singing" group from the 70's...

6 1/2" high, 8" diameter
Natural edged bowl...

Spalted Oak

3 3/4" high, 6" at widest point
More spalted oak....

and even more spalted oak!

I had a log, and I'm just about through with it :)
Cypress and PurpleHeart, Oak bottom.

12 sided rings...

Chucked using a recessed tenon...

8 1/2" H X 5 1/4" around the middle..

Next time I do something similar to this, I'm going to make the bottom part a lot smaller in diameter... This looks kinda "klunky" to me...

measures 5 1/2" X 6 1/8"

Finished with Briwax....
My first attempt at turning a box.

I don't know what the wood is... I got it from a chunk that was in a local lumber mill's scrap pile. It was made by cutting 2 circles from a 12/4 s4s chunk of wood.

Finished with Briwax
Open view....
Mystery wood... The log had a chainlink fence running through it, but I was able to get a couple chunks... This one wasn't really dry enough, but now I know about how long to let this wood dry....
8" X 8" Large, round oak bowl...
From same chunk of the log as above large bowl...
