Attacked by vandals during refurbishment.

Hamworthy Signal Box, 04 June 2002

Whilst the signalbox was being refurbished vandals smashed the main windows on the front and West end of the box during the night of 3rd-4th June..

Image 3-1: Viewed from South side of underpass looking at the rear (branch line side) of the box.

Image 3-2: Rodding tunnel where rodding and signal wire runs used to exit from the box to control the many points and signals in use when Hamworthy was a busy junction station in Southern Railway steam days.

HAMWORTHY BOX, click for larger image

6th June 2002. The windows were replaced this morning and the signal box is now back in use and looking good.
