Transport Distribution Group - TDG

TDG maintains warehousing and logistical operations throughout mainland Britain and Europe as a sister company to  Beck Pollizter and to Novacold Storage. Contracts include Cadburys, the Early Learning Centre, and a number of other major companies within the UK.

My role within the company is currently as a member of the Inventory Management team at the Heywood site. I was a little tentative when undertaking this particular employment, as I had no prior experience of warehousing (other than a brief stint with Tootals as a teenager, when employed by PERTEMPS). However, I have found the position to be challenging and stimulating, and certainly the position is one of great responsibility.

Cadbury, as one of the oldest and well respected firms within the UK demands efficient and competent movement and distribution of products throughout the world. Heywood is a key site in this program, acting as a storage site for a large throughput of in-transit goods, and as a distributor of those goods to companies such as Woolworths, Morrisons and Sainsbury's.

Worling within this demanding environment for the past six months has given me the opportunity to study another aspect of business and has enabled me to gain a greater understanding of the many constituents involved in successful commercial practice. Organisation is obviously a key element in this role, as is the ability to communicate effectively, supervise warehouse operatives, a good grasp of systems (mainframe, networked and desktop), being capable of taking the initiative in difficult situations, apprise and prioritise a variety of factors in order to maintain efficiency.   I believe that I have incorporated and expanded upon these requirements, and many more whilst situated within  TDG.
